I was looking for a hotel with a bit of character and 42 The Calls definitely has this. It's in an old mill on the banks of the river and is right in the centre of Leeds. It's an easy 10-minute stroll from the station and a very short walk from many of Leeds' attractions.
The staff were helpful and the room comfortable. I was offered a glass of wine on arrival (very welcome).
The room had pretty much everything needed, and I appreciated the modest-sized tv, which was appropriate for the surroundings (ie not the huge screens that so many hotels have now).
I could have used a flatter pillow - all 4 pillows on the bed were quite chunky and a bit of variety would have been good. I'm not sure how much life is left in the mattress - I could feel the springs in one or two places although overall it was quite comfortable and I had a good sleep on it.
I would definitely stay in this hotel again and recommend it to others

Hotel amenities good but rooms looking tired. Rooms are dark not enough lights. One of the main lights did not work so told reception on our way out early evening but still not sorted for when we came back. Surely they have spare bulbs?
