The hotel is well situated to everything you would want to visit eg Catalina park, the beach, bars and restaurants. The hotel is alittle tired but clean and suited us. The breakfast was plentiful and the view from the restaurant was lovely. If you want a no frills' place to crash this is it.

For what is a fairly 'run-of-the-mill' hotel the AC Hotel Gran Canaria is quite expensive. That said, all hotels in Las Palmas seem to have put their prices up significantly recently (and I come to Las Palmas nearly every month so I have noticed this rise in prices). The increase in prices seems to have coincided with the appearance of more drilling rigs in the port area, so hotels are presumably capitalising on the increased numbers of maritime/oil industry workers needing short term accommodation. Despite the high price I was happy with my stay at the AC Hotel Gran Canaria - it is comfortable, clean and, unlike many of the other hotels I have stayed at in the city, it is quiet. Even though the Carnival in Parque Santa Catalina was in full swing I had very little disturbance and was able to get a good sleep every night for the 4 nights that I was there.

Staff were pleasant, basic hotel as 3star, disappointed that I paid extra for a double room but did not get this only the lowest level single room with no financial reimbursement. They also would not allow me use the computer to print my boarding pass (I am old school and my phone does not do internet) I found a ciber cafe that allowed me and this only cost 0.70euro

No tea & coffe making facilities in room on arrival. They did supply a kettle on request and we bought teabags coffee etc stuff from the supermarket down the road (80m)
Exhorbitant breakfast charge of €15.50. You can get a continental style breakfast menu for €4 near the market 100m away.
Room was comfortable and everything worked. We had a standard room with terrace with partial sea view.
The first night we went to the resataurant but service was virtually non existent and the place was almost empty. A welcoming smile would have been nice We didn't eat there at all. The family restaurant next door but one was most welcoming and the food was really good and inexpensive. There are scores of reasonably priced restaurants and bars within easy walking distance.

"Quiet hotel within easy reach of harbour and beach"
Small quiet hotel with friendly staff and very clean. Short walk down to harbour front and about 10 minute walk from beach. Plenty of places to eat and drink around. Opposite end of bay to 'old town' so a long walk to the more cultural sights.

Pocket Guide: Gran Canaria Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Hotels
Cosmopolitan Las Palmas is the biggest city in the Canaries with a life aside from tourism. It features an historic district with superb Colonial architecture, a major shopping area, the golden sands of Playa de las Canteras, and one of the largest ports in Spain. The covered Market and the Museo Canario should not be missed. The bars and restaurants along the front are frequented by visitors and locals alike, and there is a lively nightlife.
