First visited The Swan 30 years ago when it was a Trusthouse Forte hotel. Nice to see it still retains it's 'olde world' charm.
My wife & I stayed for one night to celebrate my birthday. When I mentioned this the young lady at Reception offered us a complimentary glass of Prosecco & canapes before dinner - a nice touch!

My husband and I arrived at this lovely hotel after a long drive from London and it was a welcoming 'home' feeling from the outset. Everyone, staff and guests, were friendly but not intrusive. The hotel is surrounded by lovely gardens, extensive views and a tan nearby with it's own summerhouse. The dining room is excellent - great for breakfasts before setting out in a full day and a hug quality dinner option when you return. I highly recommend it for couples and family groups.

Closest to all attractions and on the lake with rooms having nice lake views. The twin rooms are spacious. Only thing the room's basent faucets are not mixer; so either have very cold or very hot water; not good for wadhoa or quick hand wash.

The public car park is opposite the hotel. The bay beach is close by. A few amusement outlets, souvenir shops, food and cafe outlets are walking distance. There was no WiFi signal on the second floor back room, where we stayed. The Manager accepted they need a relay router. The TV reception in our room was poor. Pictures of Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise added nostalgia to this place.

"Nice hotel within walking distance of the centre."
Our stay coincided with the Agricultural Show so the place was very noisy with Young Farmers, although our room was at the back and was nice and quiet. Because of the noise/busyness we walked into the village and had a very nice meal at The Globe.
The staff had been on duty at the show and were overworked at breakfast. The bacon was tepid, and menus had not been put out. The girl on duty was very pleasant but working very hard to deal with breakfasts and reception and could have done with some help.

Absolutely lovely stay in an idyllic location. Enjoyed a beautiful walk, straight out the back of the B&B and up to ivy crag, then on to Elterwater. Also within easy reach of both Ambleside and Grasmere.
Our room was stunning, the food was delicious and the staff were ever friendly - just perfect!

If I was forced to find anything less than perfect about our weekend, I would struggle. The room was a little too hot for my liking - but I like a cool room. Even though we had no sunshine on Friday and Saturday and it rained all day Sunday, we literally never noticed due to the fantastic welcome, facilities, historical beauty of the hall and astounding scenery right up to the doorstep. Every single member of staff was professional to the core, friendly, personable, efficient and attentive. I dislike fawning service and scripted responses, these staff are themselves, highly trained, proud of their standards and every one of them able to make you feel really special, nothing was too much trouble.
The surroundings are exceedingly impressive, high class - from rooms to restaurant to lounge to cocktail bar to spa. Incidentally, the spa is a substantial cut above the rest, obviously a major investment here. We drank Prosecco served to us as we languished in the enormous outdoor hot tub with an infinity edge opening onto the woodland estate with rabbits playing on the grass just in front of us - I had to drag my wife away from this place at the end of our stay. Thank you everyone for a wonderful long weekend.

The multitude of lakes and tarns give the park a stunningly unique landscape, which visitors can take in during a slow ramble or whilst enjoying one of the area's many recreational facilities.
