We stayed in Kortrijk as a way of participating in and watching the Gent Wevelgem cycle event. We stayed as a family in the hostel which we found very pleasant in a reasonably central location. Kortrijk is a nice place to spend a day - recommend the walking tour (maps available in the tourist office).

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Room was as I would expect from this type of hotel which, is basic. Breakfast was varied but not that interesting and bit confusing in where things were. The room was clean. The hotel is most excellent located if you are arriving by train as its only a 5 minute walk from station and the city centre. Its ideal if you are staying a couple of days.

This small town sits along the Leie River. The Battle of the Golden Spurs, in which the French were defeated, was fought in Kortrijk on 11 July 1302. The city hall, on the main square, features statues of the counts of Flanders and Gothic architecture. In Kortrijk’s Grote Markt, a belfry displays five towers built in 1307.
