My husband and I stayed a week at the Sand Castle on the Beach and had the time of our lives. It's situated on a beautiful beach with crystal clear water not far from stunning Sandy Point beach park where turtles nest. You can tell the owners take pride in their property as they're always around attending to their guests' needs.
From the hotel you can walk to Sandy Point beach (film location ending of Shawshank Redemption) or walk to the town of Frederiksted and it's pier. Rent a car or jeep and take a drive through the rain forest. Although the roads aren't in the best of shape, it's fun and quite an adventure. Also, take the drive to Point Udall where the landscape is dry and cacti are plenty. The winding roads and views on this road trip are stunning. Keep your snorkel gear with you and visit the many gorgeous beaches, stop at the many beach bars to snack and watch sunsets, and spend some time visiting the bigger resorts and their beaches (best snorkeling was at Carambola's beach), and take time to relax!
Our top picks: Beach Side Cafe (fine dining next to Sand Castle with sunset views); Villa Morales restaurant (Caribbean cuisine); La Reine Chicken Shack; Off the Wall beach bar and so much more ... We definitely plan on returning.

The room is wonderful with beautiful views. The staff is incredible and go out of their way daily to make you feel like family. The amenities are wonderful, kayaking, snorkling, paddle boarding. They even have a daily activity calander. The breakfast/food is wonderful.

We were blown away by the view from our room! The sea in all of it's expansive glory was right there! The bed was comfortable and the room spacious and attractive. The staff was super friendly when they saw us but gave ample privacy overall. We enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant. Thank you Chef Tully and our lovely waitress (originally from Buffalo - I'm sorry I don't remember your name) so much that it was hard to keep our commitment to trying a new place every night. It was also incredibly cool that we could walk down the road for more coffee at a breakfast truck and a swim in the mornings and we could walk to the super friendly beach bar, Off The Wall, for music, beer and pizza. Oh and Laura ( the owner) hooked us up with a great massage therapist (Julie) right away so we could really take advantage of our downtime.

Kingshill is in a secluded area on the north shore. Nearby, tourists can take guided tours of the centuries-old Cruzan Rum Factory or travel west to visit the Whim Plantation Museum, a former sugar and rum plantation. West of Kingshill, Frederiksted is the island’s second main town; highlights include Victorian architecture and historic Fort Frederik, which overlooks the main cruise ship port.
