We recently stayed at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport and could not have asked for a better experience. The rooms were nice and updated, staff was friendly and helpful and the food in their main restaurant was excellent. Within walking distance to main shopping area and a 30 minute drive to Portland. Would suggest driving to Freeport for the shops before the drive to the resort to prevent backtracking (Freeport is north of Portland).

Perfectly located so that you can walk to all the shops in 2min. Just far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet listening to the birds. Our cottage was perfect and we loved the gardens and open area where we enjoyed our afternoon wine and snacks. The owners and staff are so enjoyable, friendly and helpful. The breakfast are some of the best ever at a b&b.

Arrived on-time for check-in but had to sit awhile to "officially" do so.
We have stayed in similar 'resort' settings across the country, most noted Blackberry Farms in Walun TN, and would rate Hidden Pond as a well-meaning 'wannabe'.
While staff was well trained and numerous amenities offered, the dusty and rough dirt roads to the cabins was a turn-off and we found ourselves comparing to Blacberry Farms and other locations.

Since the 19th century, the resort area has attracted affluent residents including the former U.S. president George H.W. Bush whose mansion on Walker Point is visible from Ocean Avenue. In warmer months, tourists converge on Dock Square at the town center and hop aboard trolleys for guided town tours. At the Seashore Trolley Museum visitors can view a collection of more than 250 trolleys and streetcars.
