Cozy, comfortable hotel. Only Stairs available. Our room was located on the 3rd flight of stairs. Imagine luggage and children in tow. Other than that, pleasant hotel with working hot/cold water and AC units.

The best ocean view! nice employees! All renovated room with lots of taste! But... no glass provided! If you ask for, they will give you cartoon glasses to be nice with you. nice big fridge. We had to ask for a coffee machine not delivered on time because of the renovations. If we had glasses , it would have been quite the summum to expect for what we paid.

Tip Top Motel Cafe & Bakery

We only needed a room for one night in Lihue. It was small, tidy and quiet. The air conditioner worked well. Bathroom was clean and plenty of hot water. No shampoo, conditioner or hair dryer. Towels and bar soap were provided. Front desk help at the restaurant were accommodating and courteous. Overall, adequate accommodations for the price. I probably would not stay there for more than a couple of nights.

"The Eastern side of Kauai has amazing Sunrises. "
Loved the ocean front 1 bedroom unit. Sat on the lanai every morning with coffee and my camera and got some amazing pictures. There are colorful Roosters and chickens on the grassy area. There is a great paved walking/bike path right along the ocean. The pool and BBQ's are nice and clean. There is a laundry room that was $1.50 to wash and $1.50 to dry per load. There is NO air conditioning, but the fans and the ocean breezes kept the room temperature comfortable. We would stay here again and I would recommend it to anyone. It is a great quiet location and easy to get to the airport and all the Island beaches.

Hanalei Bay Resort

5380 Honoiki Road, Princeville - Map
My stay at Hanalei Bay Resort was amazing. My room had a view of the surrounding mountains and ocean and I could see the sunset, which helped make my overall experience incredible. Not every room has this type of view so be warned. The beach is very easy to get to, just make sure you bring a beach chair if you stay for long (you can check out a beach chair here). If you can't make it back up the hill, there is a shuttle service that can come pick you up if you call from the telephone stationed at the bottom of the hill. And if your room doesn't have a view of the sunset, you can either walk down the beach or hang out near the tennis courts to get a great view. My one complaint is that I saw one cockroach on my last day come out of the dish one time during my stay there were even a few Pest Control guys who came to the room while I was there to spray. It didn't really bother me though, and I'd definitely stay here again IF I could make sure to get a beach view room. I didn't really use the pool or bar or anything. If you don't like the food option here, there are plenty of places to go in Hanalei Bay itself, but I recommend going to the Kilauea Fish Market.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
