Katoomba was packed for a weekend concert, but we found a room at the BW. The directions on Google Maps was misleading, and we took about half an hour to figure out where and how to walk the 900 m from the train station to the hotel. The hotel is a long walk along not well marked street and path. The room smelled musty when we stepped in, but the air cleared with the window open and the heater on for about 20 min. The hotel manager was really helpful in assisting us figure out how to get to the train station when it was raining (use the Hop On - Hop Off bus, a brief walk). If you stay at the BW buy a ticket and the bus will do the scenic loop and can drop you off near the end of the route for a brief walk to the hotel. Also will pick you up to return to the station. The stay was pleasant. The room is on par with average motels in the US. For Katoomba, the motel is better than average.

The Carrington is a wonderful, traditional hotel. We stayed in the middle of winter, and the hotel was decorated for Christmas in July. Gorgeous, open log fires, Devonshire Cream teas and lots of cosy nooks to sit and chill out. The kids also loved playing billiards!
Staff were really helpful - going out of their way so we didn't have to change rooms when we stayed an extra night, and returning a playing card my son had dropped because they had noticed us playing there earlier.
I'll definitely go back

"A hotel from the past - nice spot, nice ambiance "
Few irking things.
Staff very slow to attend to you. For example, if you stood at the entry to a bar or restaurant wanting a seat, they would walk past you to clean a table.
Limited choice of dining. A degustation or a snack menu. The snacks, however, are superb - especially the Asain choices.
House cleaning average - long blond hairs still in bathroom, etc.
Would come back for that special occasion

This hotel was positioned in the centre of Katoomba allowing us to walk to shops and eateries. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very comfortable. I would highly recommend the full buffet breakfast which was sensational and reasonably priced.

We stayed for 3 nights. The room was large and comfy , the staff where nice and helpful. If staying the buffet breakfast is a must have ! The location is close enough for a short walk for many of Katoomba's main attractions. We would be happy to stay here again in the future.

We chose the Metropole because it was close to the train station.
It was close to the main streets - very helpful since we did not have a car
Although close to the train, their really was no train or other noises to bother our rest

The small artistic town of Katoomba glows in its quirk, and is only a stone's throw from the famous Echo Point, which offers a stellar view of the mountainous horizon and the famous rock formation known as the Three Sisters. Affluent neighboring town Leura provides picturesque English-style gardens, which thrive during the Leura Garden Festival every October.
