"Good Hotel in a Crowded Location"
Plus points: one of the best hotels in Male; very courteous staff; reception staff changed our US $ to Rufiyaa and called our resort to re-schedule the timing; since it is located at the heart of the city, it is close to restaurants, supermarkets, souvenir shops, and the largest mosque; hotel's arrangement for airport pick-up and drop was reasonably prompt. Minus point: located in a very crowded narrow lane (all of Male is very crowded, if you want to avoid crowd then stay in Hulhumale).

"Boutique- like resort thats personal and intimate"
Staff friendly and very accommodating to suggestions. Its a newly opened hotel that is going through teething pains, but with the guests constructive feedback, it will be a hidden gem. One can walk around the entire island in about 7 minutes and there are no large crowds its as if you are on a remote island but with the added conveniences of strong water pressure for showers, strong wifi connection, half board is plentiful, executive chef willing and able to cater people with special dietary needs, housekeeping staff efficient and non-obtrusive, complimentary kayaking or paddle boarding 1 hour per day with other water activities available to keep you engaged. The staff at Marina Hub who offer the water activities will not give you a hard sell, but are flexible and honest. We appreciated their flexibility and expertise to ensure that our experience would be a positive one. If they had an idea that the weather the next day would be cloudy, then they suggested postponement until the weather was sunnier.

"Best stay in Maldives"
This is our third resort stay in Maldives and Baros is certainly the very best we had experienced -- incredible sunset view from our water villa, attentive service from the staff all around the resort, excellent food from especially the Lighthouse restaurant. The house reefs are superb -- we saw turtles, sharks and lobsters, on top of the myriad of fish. The sunken speed boat also has an abundance of activity around it. It's the first time we felt compelled to write a review. We hope Baros continues to maintain its high standards.

Hotel staffs are polite and helpful. Location is good which you will be picked up from airport by the hotel coach after a ferry travel to the other island. Room is a bit small but is enough for a night staying, and it's tidy and clean. Breakfast choice is quite narrow.

Fihalhohi Island Resort

Fihalhohi Island Resort, Fihalhohi Island - Map
"Almost paradise!"
- It's paradise in the Indian Ocean anywhere in Maldives, and we got a taste of it in Fihalholi! - Ocean water is pristine, beaches are covered with fine powdery sands, trees and greens are overflowing, complemented with the cleanliness that we believe were well maintained. - Excellent view of sunrise and sunset from the beach. - We saw many multi-colored fishes while snorkeling. - Room 12, where we stayed was just 30 seconds to 1 minute away from the beach. - Food was delicious; our tummies were filled with sumptuous food thrice a day - If not on all-inclusive plan - water and other beverages are to be purchased, rates expensive (1.5 L water = 5 USD) - Ferry to Resort from Airport and vice versa - Fee of USD 140 for roundtrip per person to be paid directly to resort, seems bit expensive - We just thought that the staff were "prohibited" to do extra interaction with guests; though I think Asians as they are, they are friendlier. It wouldn't hurt if the staff would have some more chitchats with the guests, provided that their job is not compromised and if the guests themselves are willing to interact as well.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
