Jin Jiang Hotel Shanghai

"Confusing layout, nice hotel regardless"
When we arrived in Shanghai the first issue that came about is that apparently there are multiple Jin Jiang hotels and the expedia listing didn't say which one it was. Also, it doesn't say the name in Chinese so that doesn't help. In addition, when we figured out which hotel it was, there are multiple buildings with multiple check ins and we were told we had to take all of our bags and walk a ways away to check in at the other building. It was a bit of a cluster. Anyway, the hotel itself was really nice and had good eats. It was conveniently close to good shopping and the staff were friendly. Room service was DELICIOUS. My only other complaint was that we couldn't use the swimming pool because we didn't have swim caps....which they were gonna let us use for a steep charge. Bummer.

Ascott Huai Hai Road Shanghai

No 282,Huai Hai Road Central, Shanghai - Map
"Great location"
The hotel is located on Huai Hai Road very close to Xintiandi. It's great for shopping, business or tourists. The room was a service apartment with cooking facilities, a small sitting area and adequately sized separate bedroom. It's clean and generally well run. However try to bring guests to the restaurant for coffee over a meeting and it's impossible. The staff have a can't do attitude. They are not flexible and in fact are obstructive at times. The business lounge is small and not suitable for meetings with no privacy. Go outside to a coffee shop and have that meeting! Dry cleaning costs are reasonable in the hotel, but walk two blocks and save 50% by taking clothes to the cleaners yourself. Same with eat in meals. Call Sherpa's and order what you need for less cost. Overall the location beats many hotels in the city. It's convenient, clean, runs well and having a small American sized refrigerator for food is great. Just don't expect business facilities to be available. A small meeting room for about 3 hours costs an eye watering $650 with the pencils and a bottle of water included. Want coffee? Fruit? You know that's extra!

"Oasis in Shanghai"
The facility is beautiful as are the grounds. Its 15 acres are a true oasis in the middle of busy Shanghai. The rooms are large with everything you could possibly want. The staff and bell staff are also very good, however, the waitstaff could be a little more proactive and speak a little bit better English. Still, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
