We really loved the hotel. It was beautiful, clean, and the staff were especially welcoming. I really wish that a complimentary continental breakfast & coffee station were offered. Especially considering the nightly rates. I would also love complimentary beach chairs or loungers offered. Would make it seem more like a resort dedicated to the customrer's comfort instead of just a hotel offering a nice room and not much more.

We came at the hotel around 3-00 before thanksgiving weekend, when we came back from island we wanted to go to pool but find out that pool open during dawn to dusk only , that’s really disappointed us . As a resort property pool should be heated and open till 11 pm like any other place , lobby is very small and there is nothing much to do in the hotel after dark

First room we got was ancient and needed remodeling very badly. All the rooms are privately owned so it really depended on the room. Our room got switched, because our first room's lock wouldn't work, which was obviously problematic. Luckily the hotel staff quickly switched us to another room, that was much nicer. The other room was updated and wonderful to stay in. All the rooms were steps from the beach with a nice boardwalk and pool area. Was a pretty nice stay for the price.

My husband and I rented a 2 bedroom villa, all the 1 bedrooms were full. It was huge! It would be perfect for a family of 4 or 5. Everything was so updated, comfy and clean. Everything in the kitchen is new, organized, service for 12 so you only need to use the dishwasher once a day. The washer and dryer in the room would be perfect for a larger family. Very pretty, spacious room. It really was a nice villa, room 5423. The view was not pleasing; there were trees that had fallen and were chopped up and left there. We didn't spend any time on the balcony for that reason. If that area was cleaned up a little, cleared out, maybe a small bird sanctuary, it would be nice to sit out there. Although it's close to the beach, and not a very long walk, you'll want to rent bikes to get back and fourth more quickly. It is a time share so expect a call to have a meal and get paid to listen to them try to get you to buy in. We took the phone off the hook, problem solved. While we absolutely loved the room, we will probably book something ocean front next time. Due to our jobs, we can only get away for 3-4 days at a time, so we want to have quick access to the beach. I would suggest that they provide beach chairs and umbrella. All the other places we've stayed at on the Island provided those things, so we had to buy them. All in all we'd give this place a 4.5 out of 5. The view from the balcony was sad. Other than that, it was really nice!!

This was our second stay at Shipyard in the space of 3 months (see previous review by me for more detail on the place). Shipyard actually contains about 6 different resorts. Last time, our condo was in the Carolina Club, which had a very large jacuzzi and was very close to the outdoor playground. This time, we ended up in Egret Point, which is where the outdoor heated pool is - as well as the Health Club to which weeklong access can be obtained for a truly minimal fee. The condo was newer, fancier (granite countertop for example) and had a somewhat better layout with a jacuzzi tub in each bathroom (although slightly smaller). The view from the master was unparalleled in beauty, especially when ~100 egrets descended on the lagoon to explain its name.
The dryer went out the night before thanksgiving, yet we did not suffer even a day's delay in its replacement - a lifesaver because we have a toddler in cloth diapers! The personnel were truly wonderful, in spite of the holiday, and went above and beyond to get a new unit installed and otherwise help.
We haven't a complaint and cannot wait to go back (again)!
