We wanted a good hotel close to Busch Gardens for a weekend trip for Halloween. After making the reservations we discovered that the hotel is built on the site of a civil war battle area. And it was in a most haunted eastern Virginia article! It was reported that some guests had seen soldiers ghosts! We thought great! How appropriate for a Halloween trip! We never saw any ghosts but the hotel was great. The rooms were comfortable and nice. And the staff were helpful and pleasant. It is a very large hotel with amenities such as an indoor pool and hot tub as well as an outdoor pool. They are in the middle of a remodeling but it didn't distract from our experience. We would definitely stay here again!

The headboard on the bed had a grease spot from someone’s head on it that was not cleaned. Only 2 towels and no bedding for the pull out bed. The headboard made me question the cleanliness of the rest of the room

Set on the world's largest natural harbor, Hampton features the biggest stone fort ever built in the United States: Fort Monroe. The fort contains the Casemate Museum and such historical draws as the cell that held Confederate President Jefferson Davis. Conversely, the Virginia Air and Space Center offers more otherworldly sights, with exhibits of Apollo 12's Command Module and a Mars meteorite.
