The front desk was super helpful. She checked us in about an hour early, let us know of upcoming renovations, and told us the pool slide times (and that we should avoid them if we wanted a quiet swim as there were lots of families - useful information!).
The pool was nice, though you can tell it needs a facelift. It was really warm and clean. The whirlpool wasn't great. It was actually a bit cool compared to the pool.
The room was nice, with a big bathroom, pretty comfortable. The A/C ran very well.
Unfortunately breakfast kinda sucked. We chose this hotel specifically from the others available so we wouldn't have to go out for breakfast. It turned out to be a big let down for a 'hot breakfast'. The only things that were hot were greasy sausages and rubbery (out of a bag) scrambled eggs. My boyfriend was pretty upset about the lack of bacon. I tried a waffle from the waffle maker, which tasted like cardboard. No toppings to go with except fake maple syrup. Coffee was also awful, so we stopped at Tim's on our way home. The only things that were good were the boiled eggs, cereal, and bagels... which are available at most other hotels as part of their 'cold breakfast'.
Overall the pool made up for the lack of breakfast. This hotel looks perfect for families. The location is right off the highway, within driving distance to downtown and restaurants.

Easy to find, close to area events (Elora, Fergus, etc) Restaurants very close by, room was nice enough, could have been a bit cleaner (phone, tv remotes, behind couch). WiFi kept quitting, had to keep reinstalling password. The breakfast was awesome. The eggs were perfect and the sausages really tasty. Pool was a great temperature, as was the spa and both were very clean.
Would I stay there again? Absolutely!

This was the second time I have stayed at Norfolk. The house is stunning and clean...our room was beautiful. The service was efficient but there were a few things that set us off on the wrong foot. There was no one there to greet us when we got there which we had no problem with at all but when we finally did run into Janet, we didnt find her very friendly or welcoming. The first thing she said to us was that we used the wrong staircase. I smiled and apologized but I could tell she was annoyed and it made us uncomfortable. When that's the first thing your host says to you, it doesnt make you feel very welcome. The next day she was okay but not very warm until we paid our bill. It just didnt feel right. I couldnt put my finger on it but I didnt feel like she wanted us there. Again, the house was beautiful but I don't think there will be a third visit.

Not one but two rivers run through this southwestern Ontario city. Guelph's Royal Recreational Trail brings river-watchers, bicyclists, and walkers along the water and into vibrant downtown squares and streets packed with bistros and bars, galleries and shops. Take in one of many indie rock bands, the summer Jazz Festival, and McCrae House, which honors poet John McCrae of In Flanders Field.
