"Great hotel"
This hotel was one of our favorite accommodations while in Iceland. It was spacious, clean, had a great bed and everything we needed to be comfortable. Location was ideal, self check in worked great and building was quiet too.

"Clean, spacious and comfortable "
The location of this hotel is excellent, close to the glacier that draws everyone to this area. Food and groceries are available within a 5 to 6 km radius. Our apartment was very nice, clean and spacious, with sea views. The building has no elevator, so you have to carry your bags up the stairs. Overall a great place to stay.

"Great price, great stay"
This is the place to stay if you're looking to explore Snaefellsnes and take some great photos. Hotel was self check-in, no frills but the breakfast was a really nice spread and the room was better than expected for the price. Great wifi connection. Close to the local waterfall, 2 really great restaurants across the street. Kirkjufell is 15 min away from the hotel and so is the snaefellsnes national park. Very cute fishing town.

Lava water Accommodation

Midhraun 2, Borgarnes 2, Hjardarfell - Map
It looks like a regular farmhouse from afar, with sheeps on the front lawn and a metal gate you yourself will have to open to get to the driveway. Initially, we mistook another building for the inn and had to call the owner but she promptly answered our call and said the house is yellow with a red roof and has 2 stories so it was indeed easy to spot from a distance. Furthermore, the owner said the door was unlocked and the room will have our name on it. Upon getting to the yellow house, the accomodation it seems is on the left side of the townhouse as the right side was locked and only the left side had a small paper sign with the words 'lava water accommodation' written on it. The room itself happened to be on the 2nd floor to the right. Other small doors was locked but our room did have my name and had a key on it. There was no other guests so we had the place to ourselves including the living room, kitchen, dining area and the bathroom. Though one might say the floor area was tiny, the white paint and wooden brown decor was very tasteful and the attic look was charming. The bed was comfortable (we were given 2 twin beds though which is fine) with white comforters and there was a small sink too in the main room in addition to a desk and chair. The kitchen was equipped with a ref, toaster, stove and water heater as well as plates and glasses. Unsure about utensils since we bought our own plastics. Slightly far from other places though but very clean and quiet

"Brand new hotel with great view"
My gilfriend and I were looking for a home base for two nights to go explore the area and do a glacier hike on Snæfellsjökull. We ended up picking this place due to its location (the start of our glacier hike was right by the hotel) and reasonable price. It's brand new and feels a bit out place in the tiny town but otherwise the rooms were very comfy, we had ocean view and the staff was nice. There's not much in Arnarstapi, if you want to eat there's a nice restaurant attached to the hotel, a diner across the street and a fish and chips truck, and there's no grocery store. So stock up before coming here.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Grundarfjordur hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
