The complimentary breakfast is at the restaurant in the parking lot and it is top notch. The food was great and service even better. The location was great. Close to lots of shopping (short drive) and local state parks. Would stay again if in the area.

Inns of California is a quaint hotel with two buildings the Gold Rush building and the 49ers building. We stayed in the 49ers building. This hotel is in the downtown district of Sonora and is conveniently located near restaurants and within walking distance of the local supermarket. From what I gathered, most guests were staying to visit Yosemite National Park, which is about 45 miles away.
I highly recommend booking a stay if you are budget traveling.

The rule in this area (because of fires) is very strict : we haven't been able to be 5 in the room (3 adults + 2 kids) So we had to take another one. But the staff was very comprehensive and in the end it was very comfortable for us.
It was clean though ants had made their way in our room near the bathroom.
The pool is very clean and good temperature.
Didn't find a "do not disturb" sign so were woken up by someone knocking to see if she could clean the room. Bad luck, we were sleeping super well !

Hotel staff was cooperative, both at the front desk and in the restaurants. We were there during the Detwiler fire just to the west and I was happy with the staff's actions during our stay. The location is very good relative to Yosemite. Our room was well equipped and comfortable. We only stayed a couple of days and were challenged somewhat by the smoke drifting into the valley from the Detwiler fire.

This was an amazing place for the price we paid. The night before we paid almost the same price (only ten bucks cheaper) to stay in a tent which was at the same distance from Yosemite National Park! The room was clean and had private bathroom and shower. The building was a Victorian home with lots of cute furniture and decorations. The breakfast was OK. I would totally recommend this place if you are on a budget.

We came in very late, well past check in time, and the staff stayed up well past their usual hours for us. They were absolutely wonderful. We felt terrible that we caused such a inconvenience for them, but with the fire in the nearby county, it was difficult to arrive ontime; they didn't have to do what they did, but they did it anyway, and that's what we appreciated the most. Definitely worth the stay and will do so again in the future.

"Charming hotel, great location and friendly staff"
We were in town for a wedding so stayed for only one night. Sonora is a cute town and this hotel was in a great location with shops and restaurants within walking distance. The front desk staff as well as the two staff members in the dining room were very personable and friendly.

The Sonora Inn is a beautiful hotel on the corner of the Main Street in town. It is very convenient to all of the shops and restaurants. Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful, however one of the staff was no help at all. He did not know the area well and was unable to answer our questions. The only caveat to this hotel is that you have to lug your luggage up and down 2.5 flights of steps because the elevator does not operate.

On Highway 120, the former gold mining town of Groveland is 26 miles west of the entrance to Yosemite National Park. A historic downtown with shops and restaurants makes Groveland a popular stop for tourists heading east to Yosemite; the Iron Door Saloon, with original bar intact, is said to be the oldest continuously running saloon in California. Pine Mountain Lake is within two miles.
