We booked this hotel sight-unseen through Expedia and we're glad we did. We wanted to spend a night in the Mystic Seaport area to go to the Seaport and Mohegan Sun Casino. It's a short drive to either attraction and the hotel is conveniently located.
From the outside, the hotel appears a bit dated and the inside shows signs that it is an older hotel. The walls appear freshly painted, however, and the room furnishings are comfortable and more modern. We had booked a single room with a queen-sized bed but upon check-in we were upgraded at no cost to a suite with a king bed, two TVs, a microwave, fridge and more. The lady behind the desk was kind enough to do this without even a request by us, saying that the hotel was not very crowded [it was the off-season] and that this room wasn't likely to sell anyway, so why not take the opportunity to do something nice? Nice, indeed! Included with the room was a complimentary *full* breakfast for two with selections from an extensive regular breakfast menu. Another plus, and the breakfast was delicious, our waitress couldn't have been nicer. We will certainly return when we visit the area again as our stay was most pleasant.

Stayed at the motel during the blizzard of 2016. Pre-booked trip. Was trying to find the cheapest spot possible that wasn't too far from Foxwoods. The room had the basics that you could need - bed, shower, toilet. Although the rug was gross and worn out, the furniture falling apart and the alarm clock/tv combo were not functioning all too well together (remote control wasn't fully functional), we got what we paid for and it fit our most basic of needs. If you're looking for luxury however, or even expecting a modicum of it, I'd look elsewhere.

The hotel is ok. The staff is nice, but... they get everything wrong. You call them to confirm your stay, they cancel it (by accident); you call them to adjust something, they do, but the price gets changed to a different rate; you asked them to re-activate your cards to finish getting your stuff from te room at the check out, they think you're checking out; etc.
Or, and their restaurant - quite terrible! And they also get everything wrong - like the orders for a big party.

The rooms were average. Your typical hotel room. Bathrooms were clean, organized, but there was no fan which is needed when there are 4 guests using one bathroom. The pool was nice, hot tub worked just fine, and it was nice having Starbucks in the hotel to get a quick bite to eat and some coffee in the morning before departing.

Often referred to as the submarine capital of the world, Groton is home to the Naval Submarine Base. At the Submarine Force Museum visitors can tour the USS Nautilus, the Navy’s first nuclear-powered submarine. History buffs may want to visit Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park, the site where traitorous Benedict Arnold led British forces against during the Revolutionary War.
