I was greeted by very friendly attentive staff. The hotel is beautifully remodeled and appealing to a modern taste. Unbeatable location in Gran Via next to Plaza de Espana. I enjoyed my stay in the comfortable rooms. The food at the rooftop restaurant was good and reasonably priced, however, the service at the restaurant was slow and spotty at best.

Great location for a city break as within walking distance of most attractions and near the metro. Slightly disappointed in room allocated as running water noise seemed to come from other rooms, plus room safe did not operate.

Stayed at Hotel Emperador for 3 nights in a standard double room on the 8th floor which we found satisfactory. Breakfast was included and there was a great selection of english/continental foods on offer. The hotel is located on the corner of Gran Via which is excellent for shops, restaurants, theatres etc. There is also a gym, hairdressers and rooftop pool on the premises. Plaza de Espana is just a 5 minute walk down the road and another 5 minutes walk on to the Templo De Debod. The hop on/hop off bus stop is literally across the road and costs 25euros for two days and is well worth the money. You can buy tickets for the bus tour from reception. All the hotel staff were polite and extremely helpful with organising airport transfers which cost 30euros each way and the journey takes about 15-25 minutes depending on traffic.

This is a new five-star hotel that lives up to the billing. I suspect it'll be difficult to get rooms here in a couple years as it becomes more popular. The rooms are small but modern and nice. The restaurant (Atico) is outstanding - had the best tapas in Madrd (the tortilla bites). But the best thing about the hotel was the staff. Warm and friendly, eager to help but not I your face. Very good English, with lots of practical knowledge about Madrid. Would eagerly stay here again.

Situated on a quiet plaza and very conveniently located, this is an ideal hotel for exploring the city. There are three metro stations just minutes walk away, although it's easy to visit many attractions on foot. We didn't use the restaurant but we were told breakfast was excellent. There is an El Corte Inglés department store just across the road which includes a supermarket if you wish to self cater. Our room was the cheapest available and was perfectly acceptable, although there was minimal natural light. Thoroughly recommended.

Known as the street that never sleeps, Gran Via is one of Madrid’s main shopping and entertainment districts and a hub of the city’s nightlife. Bordered on one end by the grand Cibeles fountain and at the other by the stately Plaza de España, the wide boulevard is lined with stunning examples of early-20th-century architecture.
