This was our first Ryokan experience as a family. For the 5 of us, it was very spacious with plenty of space to sleep and rest. They came into our room during dinner to fix the tatami mats. The tatami mats were surprisingly very wide and comfortable. The 2 hotsprings were a very interesting experience, we read the rules beforehand to understand the culture and to not offend the local Japanese. It was nice to have both the inside onsen and an outdoor one as well. All the amenities were there at the hotsprings as well. Food however, wasn't so nice. It was filling enough but wasn't very fresh or tasty. An overall good experience.

The hotel and grounds are beautiful. Our room was a traditional Japanese room so we had either futons or seating which we expected. The futons were too thin to be comfortable compared to the ones I had growing up. Some of the seat cushions and walls were stained and there were dusty cobwebs over the bathroom door. Towels were very thin and poorer quality for a hotel of this caliber. My mom was not allowed to exchange currency because she carries a Japanese passport. We had not experienced this at any other location while visiting Japan. Staff were very nice. It would be nice if they gave an overview of local things to do and how to get there since it's a bit more remotely located.

I was happy while staying in this hotel. The hotel is clean and beautiful. The room is comfortable and the facilities is good but the hotel is quite difficult to find and take a long time from a bus stop.
