105 - A Townhouse Hotel

"Reykjavik right near everything"
I opted for an apartment instead of a hotel. Convenient spot. You can walk to everything. A bit of a challenge to get into building at first, due to off site staff and some communication challenges, but it all worked out. Beautiful room with great, fun lighting. Television had no stations on it, just radio. The building was under renovation and lacked appeal, except for in the apartment. Ample parking. The windows are thin and you hear every conversation on the street, almost like they are in your room. It took some getting used to.

This apartment exceeded expectations. We had spent 8 days on the road traveling across Iceland and was looking forward to an evening of relaxation. We had everything we needed and it was so comfortable and we enjoyed our stay immensely.

"Great Time at the 101"
Hotel is in a great location and easy to walk to major sites in Reykjavik and our pick up stop for the excursions we went on was was right across the street. Staff was very friendly and helpful, they made great recommendations for where to visit and eat. Super helpful when I left my bag on the transfer bus! Our room was a good size with amazing view, very comfortable. Would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Beautiful, comfortable hotel in the center of town"
Hotel Borg was perfect for us: large room, totally clean and spotless, super comfortable bed, and spacious bathroom. Located overlooking a small green, with a convenient location in center of town -- walking distance from main sights, shopping, and the tour bus stops. I rely on the front desk staff for help with restaurant reservations, phone calls to confirm tours, city information, etc, and I found Hotel Borg's staff to be 100% professional, courteous, and truly helpful. Loved this place and will stay there again.

The room is clean, and the location is easy to find. The check-in instruction was very clear and accurate (we arrived at midnight, so no staff there).

Perfect layout of family rooms, with one double bed and 2 singles, everyone gets a reading lamp near bedside; no rugs in room is great for allergies. Clean bathrooms, lots of towels and a free shuttle to Blue Lagoon.

"Very small rooms"
Generally, the hotel is nice very clean, great staff and probably one of the best and not too expensive restaurants in the city. But the rooms are very small, we felt pretty cramped in there. If you don't care about the size of the rooms, it is a great hotel.

"Within walking distance of it all"
Chose this hotel because of its location which is great. Our Windstar cruise docked right there. I think it is both a tour hotel and cruisers hotel, which may explain the weary condition of the furnishings and carpeting, though as I passed by some rooms they looked to have been updated. We were on floor 2. The staff were great when we asked for a room change, as well as when our friend had a booking mix-up. To get to the airport, unless you take a taxi, there is a shuttle service about 4 blocks away that the hotel will book for you. It takes you to the main bus terminal, where you disembark and transfer your luggage to a Flybus bus. This costs $30pp (USD), while a taxi would have cost about $150 for 3 people. I think we should have looked into Grayline on the chance that they go directly to the airport. You have access to all kinds of restaurants, bars, shopping, walking on the waterfront, in this hotel.

"Convenient Airport Hotel "
I was only there for one night and I happened upon a few technical issues they were having. There was no functioning elevator in my section of the hotel due to renovations, the Apple TV was not working that night, and my wake up call never materialized - luckily I had set up the alarm on my phone, but that could have led to serious rushing or even showing up for my flight very late. Nevertheless, these are all fixable issues so I would try the hotel again. I would recommend a second person at the reception desk. One person for that size of hotel meant people were often kept waiting. It was a lot for one person to juggle and I highly commend the young woman who was there when I checked in who was multi tasking exceptionally when I arrived and who helped me carry my luggage due to the elevator issue and my bad back.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
