Castle House Inn is a good place to stay for a short while, mostly I would say a backpackers hotel or for younger people. It is in the Old Town which is very nice. The cafe the hotel recommends to use for breakfast is expensive. Go to Under the Chestnut Tree cafe just up the hill to have a cheap but plentiful breakfast. The rooms were small and minimalist, there are separate wet rooms all along the corridor with shower/toilet/washbasin.

Yes, the rooms are microscopic in size, but it is a fun and unique experience! The room was very clean and the bathroom was updated. The staff were all friendly and all spoke perfect English. The complementary breakfast was surprisingly nice and complete. You can't beat the price for the location.

Location is excellent. 10 minutes walk from Stockholm Central train station. Right on the footsteps of the hustle and bustle of Gamla Stan but not so in the middle of it that you won't have any peace! Staff were very friendly, professional and helpful. Room was excellent size and well decorated. Very clean especially the shower and toilet. Extremely comfortable bed. Buffet breakfast was also excellent. Lots of hot and cold choices and all very delicious.

We loved our 8 day stay in the Victory Hotel. It is ideally located in the old town. Our room was large with extremely comfortable beds. Despite it being freezing outside, our room was perfectly comfortable-not over-heated as we have experienced at other hotels.
The breakfasts were outstanding. The staff were always pleasant and very helpful.
We loved the port and chocolate that appeared each evening. Tea and coffee making facilities are available on each floor.

Small hotel close to a lot of small shops and restaurants . Shared bathrooms, problem was my room was next to the reception so, had to go through there to access bathrooms. Not ideal. Probably ok if you're room is near the bathrooms. Take earplugs church bells ringing at all hours. Place was clean though and quiet apart from the bells !!

We loved this hotel for its warmth and charm. If you need a modern, full amenities hotel, this is not for you. It is an authentic experience in the old town of Stockholm. John and the rest of the staff are warm helpful and freindly. European style breakfasts are so nice in the cosy breakfast room. The hotel is an original 1607 house, restored in the required way- so walls and floors are sloping and floors creak- you get a huge old brass key for the room. Bathrooms are modern and efficient, although small. (Shower is simply a curtain drawn around a corner in the bathroom.) My only improvements would be offering facecloths and bars of soap. Internet was sometimes off and on. Difficult for business sometimes. Much better for a romantic getaway!
Excellent all around. Thanks very much.

We were so pleased with the location of Hotel Gamla Stan, so closed to everything. It's a very old building which makes it evern more interesting to stay there. We had a quadruple room which was comfortable and very clean. Staff were really helpful.

The Royal Palace, a Buckingham Palace look-alike, is in Stockholm's Old Town. While the royal family chooses to live in Drottingholm, about a half-hour away, there are tours available, as well as the changing of the guard. The area's major thoroughfare, Västerlånggatan, is a pedestrian area filled with shops and restaurants.
