We stayed at this hotel for one night for our VA trip. Front desk staff was courteous and friendly. Rooms are clean and in good condition. We had breakfast included with our stay. Breakfast was mediocre but had the basics (cereal, a waffle station, muffins, toast, yogurt, only hot food was scrambled eggs and sausage).
It's close to small shopping plaza with Food Lions supermarket and pizza place/Chinese fastfood restaurant. Overall very good experience.

I was pleasantly surprised with the wonderful, charming, historic nature of this hotel and restaurant. The listing said "continental breakfast", but I received a full, hot, delicious breakfast with blueberry pancakes, coffee, locally made sausage, and all served with a smile. The oldest part of the hotel/restaurant is the "slave kitchen" from 1740. More than one staff member said it was haunted. Now it is part of the dining room. The night I was there, a folk band was playing and I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner before retiring to my gorgeous room with two twin four-poster beds. Even the tiny bathroom with tiny sink was charming...remember this place is historic!

While traveling with two small dogs we had the good fortune of finding the Aloft property in Winchester, VA. We found the price to be of excellent value, the rooms clean and modern, and because it was pet friendly with no additional charges, we will be sure to look for an Aloft property 1st whenever traveling again.

We spend one night here. The best thing this place has going for it is its location. Literally seconds from Shenandoah national park. Our room was a nonsmoking room but it was on a floor with smoking rooms. This means the room smelled like stale cigarettes. I didn't think it was too bad but when we got to our next hotel the next night I could smell the cigarette smoke on our clothes in the suitcase. Not my favorite thing. Our bathroom was in need of a good cleaning. There was a wad of hair in the shower drain. I wish I'd checked it when we got to the room but I didn't think to and only realized the chunk of hair was there the next morning when I turned the shower on and the water started backing up. Our sheets and blanket had small holes in them. There weren't many other options for places to stay in the area so overall I'd stay here again because it was probably one of the best options. The elevator is old and one trip on it was all it took to convince me to take the stairs. The breakfast offered is sugar cereal, coffee, and pre packed cinnamon rolls.

Pocket Guide: Shenandoah National Park Front Royal Entrance Hotels
The north Front Royal Entrance to Shenandoah National Park leads to Shenandoah Valley Overlook, providing views across the valley to Signal Knob. Beyond the overlook, the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center features a movie and an interactive exhibit, designed as introductions to the park. The Signal Knob Overlook sits just further in and offers glimpses of its namesake, a Civil War communications post.
