When we arrived, the gentleman at the counter seemed a bit deep in thought as we walked through the front door, I think he may have been busy. He was pretty no-nonsense and had a dry sense of humor. He was rather helpful in getting us checked in and giving us our parking pass. The hotel is less than a quarter-mile from the beach and is very close to many nice bars, eating establishments and decent music clubs (the bands we heard were playing classic rock and old country covers, I didn't expect a whole lot of original material in a small beach town.)
The room was fairly small, but very clean. The mirror over the canopy bed was a cool, if not kitschy touch. The price was relatively inexpensive for this location, even for the off-season. Overall, this is a pretty solid hotel for singles and couples. I'm not sure if there are larger rooms or suites for families, but for us, this usually doesn't matter. Next time we come to Charleston, this hotel will be one of the top three choices and if we decide to stay in Folly Beach, another hotel would have to have the same quality at a lower price to sway me. It's unlikely one will find a better deal for a nice room this close to the water. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of frills with this place, but we were in town to enjoy the beach and party and we did party!
