Very comfortable bed. Good breakfast s . Friendly staff. Only slight niggle the TV only had one English channel and that was an Australian wildlife documentary programme. Also no tea and coffee facilities in the room. Otherwise excellent. Five minutes from the sea front and old town. Thoroughly recommend.

It was comfortable and clean. It was in the centre of Faro, suitable for exploring the surrounding towns using local transport. Staying in February it was also quiet. We were fortunate to get a room with a view on the 5th floor away from traffic noise.

This was a very cute hotel except for the noise! Varnished, creaky, wooden floorboards and wood doors with noisy locks and heavy iron keys are a bad choice. The noise factor dissuaded me from staying beyond one night, which is a shame. They could lay runners in the hallways, and rugs in the rooms, or hand out compulsory slippers on check-in. They could also get less noisy locks, lighter keys (or velvet coat them) and put small pads on the doorframes to reduce noise. Windows on the communicating walls between bedrooms and shared showers, if they cant be boarded, should have cork sound insulation, not sticky paper on the panes. I could hear every drop as if it were in my room. In the end, I had to play 10hrs of rainstorm sounds on my laptop to get to sleep. I was lucky the other guests were considerate or that would not have sufficed. Finally, as there is no table to put a suitcase on, and only one small chest of drawers in the room, a few pegs to hang clothes would have been appreciated. It is possible to retain the character features while making the stay more pleasant for the guests for not too much outlay.

This bustling characterful little town, gateway to the region, is overlooked by most Algarve visitors. Its elegant cobbled, peaceful Old Town is a delight for strolling. The Cathedral is its highlight; climb to the top for wonderful views across Faro’s lagoon. The newer, late 19th-century part of town is a likeable jumble of shopping streets, local bars and restaurants, a regional museum and the Carmo Church with a ghoulish bone chapel.
