We arrived at the reception at 3 am after our long long drive from Chicago to DC on July 4th weekend. I asked the receptionist Marcos if I had to pay or they had already receieved the payment. He told that the payment was deducted and we were all set, he said he did not even know from where we had booked and what we had paid.
Next, we just asked him if breakfast was included on our booking, so that we could plan to wake up accordingly. To that he sarcastically said it is never included in that PRICE. Now that's a sarcastic unwelcoming receptionist that you don't want to run into when you are tired as hell.

Since we were in the area to see DC and had decided to use the Metro system instead of renting a car, we were excited to find out they have a shuttle service to the Metro station - all we had to do was call. The breakfast was not inspiring, but it was both hot and cold. The staff were always friendly and accommodating. The room had no bright lights except for the bathroom. It had a refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, and coffee maker. It had only one extra chair and desk/table so it was not easy to eat in the room. It was always clean. They care for the environment and only change out towels that are left on the floor.

The hotel physical condition is poor. The room furnishing are old and show many signs of infrequent and incomplete maintenance. The lamp shades were deteriorating. The toilet ran and the toilet paper hold fell out of the wall. The is no electrical outlets near the night stands or the desk for the alarm clock or to power ones own cell phones or laptops. The desk was unusable because of no lamps and being near the very loud air conditioning unit. There is very little sound deadening between the rooms or outside windows. The sheets are quite thin, though there are blankets. The pillows equally thin. I recommend bring your own shampoo and body wash or soap.
On the plus side the main desk staff was professional and very accommodating. The room was kept reasonably clean. There is a modest free breakfast of bagels and muffins. The hotel is very convenient to downtown Vienna VA and just three miles from Tysons. The lodging rates are very reasonable.

My grandson and I wanted to visit DC. We were happy with everything we got to see. It was a little too far to walk to the mall from the hotel and had to spend a lot of money on taxi's. The food in the resteruant was kind of over priced. It was very good but need more to choose from. Menu never changes.

the initial staff that checked me in was not rude nor pleasant. she did her job without a smile but was not rude. she provided me with all the information necessary and answered my questions without enthusiasm. the room itself was clean and the bed was comfortable. this hotel was chosen for the location and provided me with what I needed for the night.

History buffs will appreciate Fairfax, once caught between Union and Confederate forces. Monuments to this Civil War heritage include the Fairfax Museum, the Confederate Cemetery, and the Blenheim estate, where stationed Union soldiers wrote poetry on the walls. Nearby, the National Parks Service preserves the Manassas National Battlefield, the site of the Civil War’s first major land battle.
