Air conditioning seemed to blow cold air even when I turned the temperature up and it wasn't that warm. I turned it off.
Shower had a half screen and half open so it soaked the bath mat.
There was only decaffeinated coffee provided in room.
It seemed a bit over-priced.

I would highly recommend this hotel. Decor, comfort, staff: as good as you could hope for. Only downside is parking. Hotel only has a few spaces. There is a big public car park over the road but of course there is a cost to that. All the same, I would always choose this hotel if staying in Exeter.
Inside out pool is great by the way. Swimming outside in the dark was a brilliant experience.

Excellent pool. How do they prevent condensation on the windows? Therapy staff were brilliant and the facilities were modern and well laid out. Room was clean and modern with view of the golf course. Would certainly visit again.

Generally my experience was positive, though I found the staff to be quite aloof and certainly not warm.
The room was very comfortable and clean.
The food in the bar was limited and on the first night my colleague and I had the chicken salad. There was plenty of it but the chicken was tough and not great. The second night food was better (pasta and burger) but the focus seemed to be on bulk rather than quality.
Breakfast was good but the waitress on the second day left much to be desired - no sense of welcome - just give me your order type of attitude - a little adolescent really!

We have stayed at this hotel before, when it was a Thistle Hotel. I understand it is currently run by The Hotel Collection and will imminently change hands yet again to become part of the Mercure chain. The service, professionalism and friendliness of the staff was refreshingly unchanged and the facilities were in the main exceptionally good. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are spacious, particularly the room we stayed in, which was a family room, and they well appointed and clean. The décor and ambience cleverly mixes that of a traditional hotel with all the comforts of modern lifestyles and expectations.

I enjoyed my stay very much, nice room although the bedspread on the bed was a little stained but I didn't let that spoil my stay as the food in the brassiere was excellent made the whole stay very comfortable.

Hotel in excellent location. Rooms pleasant and clean. The internal decor of the stairs and corridors is rather scruffy and my bathroom window had a huge gap in the frame. The walls are quite thin and there was a lot of noise from adjacent rooms until after 3am.

All in all we couldn't have found anywhere more suitable. Lovely atmosphere, excellent beers on the hand pulls. Very nice evening meal.
Our only issue was the cheap plastic mattress protector was very uncomfortable and disrupted our sleep,

Devon’s principal town, Exeter is not only an historical city but also a lively student centre. Don’t miss the medieval cathedral, one of England’s finest, while the Royal Albert Memorial Museum houses one of England’s best provincial collections. Visitors can take a cruise from Exeter Quayside and visit the quaint port of Topsham. Bicton Gardens is a popular outing and Exeter is also handily placed for exploring Dartmoor and the English Riviera.
