"Good value for money hotel "
Pleasantly surprised at the location. Close to the airport but far enough away from the motorway traffic and aircraft noise. Although a tad old fashioned, and in need of a general update, I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again myself when flying from Stansted. The room itself was adequately spacious, offering the usual amenities and more in comparison with a better known chain which I used at the outset of my journey. On arrival I was checked in courteously and promptly, and when I mentioned being really tired from my return trip I was given a room at the back of the hotel which I was thankful for. Food was avaliable in the restaurant if required but I cannot comment as did not have the evening meal. However, after paying in advance for a breakfast which promised continental type and also hot food I was very disappointed because the temperature and quality of food on offer left a great deal to be desired. Absence of any staff at 8:45 am was very noticeable too. That being said I would recommend the hotel overall, but would strongly advise going for breakfast elsewhere.

"On airport hotel, so location superb."
We booked in about 3pm - the room was ready and clean, however the previous occupant had obviously had room service and there was a plate of half eaten breakfast outside our room - it was still there at 4:30 so I rang reception and asked that the plate be removed ( only because I do not live like this at home). At 6:30pm it was still there, it was making me feel sick so I took it down to reception myself - " Oh sorry about that!" was the comment and I was expecting them to be horrified that this could happen at a 4 star hotel. Bar Food - tad expensive £16 for a fish - finger sandwich - wine tower is brilliant. Pool etc is un-inspiring that some parts need a good 'power wash'

"Great, friendly hotel in picturesque setting"
I was looking for a "cost-effective" place to stay to get me nearer to London/Gatwick airport after a friend I was meant to stay with was taken ill last minute. Knowing that I would be taking Darftord crossing, I was looking at Harlow/Bishop's Stortford area, and this was one of the first hotels that caught my eye on the 'net. After a bit of research I decided to go for Little Hallingbury Mill based on it's quaint description (and exceptionally reasonable price), and was not dissappointed. A little difficult to find in the dark/wet weather (they plan to put up a clearer signage on the junction), I was pleased to see an old C19th Mill, annex and Millhouse converted to rooms, snug bar and dining area. Exceptionally friendly staff/owners made me feel very welcome, discussing the geography and history of the Mill/functioning waterwheel/gearset that is a feature of the bar over a nice cold pint of Stella (Ale and other lagers available). I turned up too late for dinner (I didn't get there til ~10pm), but was offered sandwiches if required. A traditional full English (cereals etc also available) set me up in the morning for my continued drive. All in all, excellent value for money. Would recommend to friends/family.

I found the hotel in general very nice although they had a birthday party on and had run out of all draught beer which was a little frustrating, but for me the only real problem was that as a bigger man I found the beds extremely uncomfortable and as a result I was tossing and turning all night long and hardly had a wink of sleep

"cheap n cheerful place for a quick stop over"
It did the job. Has comfy beds..seating, tv, shower toilet (with soap)kettle, t bags coffee sugar and milk.. breakfast had orange juice, coffee machine , yoghurt , fruit , toast and cereals.. and some meats and cheese..didn't see any staff apart from the man who gave us our key..but we did arrive at 1am!-didn't see anyone the next morning. not for someone needing luxury, but ideal for a stop off-which is the point of the place.

"lovely staff. Beware of "smoking rooms"!"
I booked online and didn't see there were options for smoking and non smoking rooms. As I did not specify I was given a smoking room and the smell was just vile! The receptionist was lovely and although they were "fully booked" she found us an alternative room - but we booked a family room for 3 and the spare room was s double so we had to have a put you up added which took half the room space. The receptionist kindly gave us free breakfasts as compensation.

" Beautiful room but not what we booked "
This was our wedding anniversary and I booked a four poster bed suite. When we got there I was told I had been given a free upgrade although I had thought I had booked the best suite possible . This was meant to be a romantic weekend I had wanted a four poster bed as booked but wasn't given one. We spent Saturday evening at the casino but had to wait to be let in on our return to the hotel . We missed the breakfast we had paid for because this finished at 10 unlike most hotels that serve breakfast till 11 AM on a Sunday . On a more positive note our suite was beautifully clean and modern and we had a double spa bath which was an added extra

Essex is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Essex, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Essex hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
