The staff is always helpful and friendly. We have stayed multiple times because we have a student at Cal. It is quiet, there are local restaurants and shops and a theater. You can stay away from the busy campus area but it is still close enough to easily go back and forth.

Upon arriving at our hotel we found out that our bay view room that we had reserved was no longer available. Much to our disappointment, we were given a
view of the freeway instead. However, the staff member that checked us in comped us with free parking and breakfast which we really appreciated. The next day we were moved to a bay view room. Disappointed to find that the windows were filthy so the extra money for the bay view really wasn't worth it. Was surprised when making our reservations that the room had 2 full beds. Queen beds would have made for a more comfortable stay for our family of 4. Had opportunity to use the business center. Had up to date tech to handle all our needs. Overall, a good stay, a few improvements would have made it great.

Great visit. We just wish we'd had a little more time to just "be" there. Loved having a glass of wine in the rear dining cabin/lounge with views across the marina toward the Berkeley hills. Charming and elegant. Our only "complaint," if you can call it that, was that the bed in our room was a bit of a "deep valley" bed. We'd have preferred a harder, flatter mattress. The other two rooms might have been better in this regard. We hope to stay there again--only for longer!
