"Nice hotel, could do with some finishing touches"
Positives: Great location right near the busy centre of Eger, in fact we were closer than we realised initially. The male receptionist met us at the door, helped us to no end - up the very minute we left, making calls on our behalf, gathering extra information about our journey. The room was very nice, although not all of them had air conditioning, we were able to get a room that had it. Parts of the hotel look new and our room was clean and comfortable. Negatives: The breakfast was ok on the first day but much poorer on the second. There needs to be more attention to detail, for example, the cereal was very stale, and none of the salts worked, they had rice in them but even this old trick made no difference as the breakfast room is in an underground room, there was no pepper. I don't mind a basic breakfast but each item needs to be fresh and the settings checked. consider eating out.

"A Great Place to Stay for a Weekend Visit"
We booked the hotel because we wanted an inexpensive place to sleep for a couple of nights while visiting the Hungarian mountains. We were unbelievably surprised by the quality of the hotel. We had booked two double rooms for the family. They provided us with newly renovated suites. The furniture and bathrooms were of a quality more fitting a nice 4 or 5 star hotel rather than the 3 stars this hotel is rated. The staff was friendly and English speaking. In fact several of them had worked at hotels in the U.S. for several years. The hotel is mainly a business hotel for visitors to the chemical plant, but we could not see, hear, or smell the plant from our rooms. The best thing about the hotel is its location. It is 15 minutes from downtown Miskolc and a beautiful drive to Aggtelek National Park (cave system), Miskolc Tapolca hot spring, Szilvasvarad valley, and Lilliafured hot spring. We visited each of these on different days. There is a lot more to do in the area, but we just didn't have time.

"The clerks at front desk were great, helpful "
It was good overall, we were charged a "tourist tax" upon checkout and did not understand this. The location is great, and so were all the staff. Breakfast deserves FIVE STARS. Thank you for this hotel and location.

"Very nice hotel for visit to Tokaj region "
We weren't sure what to expect but were thrilled to find we had made an excellent choice with this hotel. The room was ready, very clean and tastefully decorated. The grounds are lovely and quite and it felt that we had stepped into a glamorous part of history. The staff were accommodating and kind, and dinner was exceptional. Our waiter went above and beyond expectations at dinner and we even met the winemaker. The only comment is our room got a bit warm overnight but that was probably our error. Overall we were very pleased.

"Country inn in the middle of nowhere."
This hotel in the middle of a nowhere village is a county inn more than anything else. People from the area come there for celebration dinners and lunches: graduations, weddings, birthdays, etc. The hotel comes is several buildings. The rooms on the ground floor facing the street are dark and small with tiny windows. The rooms above are just as small, but are much brighter, with big windows that open like a door onto a small balcony. The rooms facing the side are bigger, but very dark with tiny windows and dim lights (I was shown several rooms before making my choice). The restaurant is decent, Hungarian traditional food at reasonable prices. But avoid the tables in the upstairs dining room, because the rails under the tables keep most people from getting their legs under the table. The downstairs tables are better. Breakfast was not a buffet but was included in the price and cooked to order. The staff is friendly but only one seems to speak English because he lived in Canada. Aside from that, Hungarian is required. This place is a commucations black hole. There is internet WiFi but it didn't work, at least when I was there. There was no mobile phone working from T-Mobile, either.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Eger Hill hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
