One thing could certainly be improved. My room had a walk in shower, the controls were were dreadful so hard to balance to get the correct temperature. It was either too hot or cold. If the lever kind were fitted, not only are they so easy to use with no danger of scolding oneself, they can be turned on and off so quickly thus saving so much more water.

Had a great 2 night stay. Recommended by a friend. Didn't disappoint. Beautiful exterior, and elegant interiors, felt like walking back in time. Notably helpful and friendly staff. Walked to all local attractions from the hotel, including a pleasant walk to Beachy Head. A filling full English buffet breakfast included and dinner at The Garden restaurant was good too. Don't miss out on a cream tea, but book if you can - wanted to have it in the Great Hall, but it was full. Rooms a little dated, but added to the charm.

The hotel I stayed ( langham hotel ) right in front of the beach ( gravel beach - not sandy like Caribbean beaches ) , nice sea view , safe to walk around , comfortable rooms , pleasant staff with excellent service . It was in March first week 2017 . See some of my pics below on a foggy day at 11 AM.

I stayed here for 2 nights. Everything was fine, check-in was quick and all the staff I encountered were excellent. The room I had was perfectly adequate, more than enough room and a side view of the seafront which was great and a nice surprise. I found the room to be really noisy, I could hear everything going on around, people talking next door, the person on the other side when they ran their shower and the people above opening drawers, etc. very very noisy. glad I brought ear plugs! But its an old property so not that surprising and was fine really. The room was very clean although fixtures and decor very outdated, felt like being in 1980 but it was fine and normal for eastbourne. The shower was good pressure which was a nice surprise.
The breakfast buffet was ok. Basic but fine, good selection of hot and cold although I did not have any hot items. I found it so quaint how the servers brought toast to the table! Haven't seen that in a hotel in years, quite old fashioned but nice as I wasn't in a rush. It was a very old fashioned dining room. I chose not to eat dinner there as the menu seemed a bit dated/boring and over priced so I ate at the local restaurants instead.
