Comfy room overlooking the golf course. Under floor heating in bathroom a welcome touch on a frosty morning. Piano player in lounge in the evening creating a lovely ambience. Staff extremely courteous. Excellent Scottish breakfast. Heartlily recommend.

The hotel was all decked out for Christmas and was beautiful, it was clean, warm and quiet. We were in room 606 and it was a windy night but there was a definite problem above our room and it banged all night and at one point felt like something was being lifted off roof and banging down. On saying this although we did not get much sleep I would still recommend this grand old hotel.

A beautiful setting and great location. The hotel was very clean and well decorated. The rooms were a good size, clean and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were very professional and helpful. We had dinner in the brasserie restaurant, which was very nice, with fabulous service. My children used the pool twice and loved it. It was also spotlessly clean. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable trip, will definitely be back.

Prosperous agricultural East Lothian lies due east of the capital. Haddington, the county town, is rich and handsome, and due south the Lammermuir Hills are home to some charming villages. North Berwick, a genteel Victorian-Edwardian resort half an hour by rail from Edinburgh, looks onto Bass Rock, home to over 100,000 seabirds. Gullane ('Gillin') houses the Muirfield golf course, while nearby Musselburgh is the region's busiest racecourse.
