"Great hotel by the bay area."
Conftable & cozy room with an amazing view from the window. Watching the northern lights from the window was so unreal. This hotel has the best location to see everything.

"Nice clean modern hotel"
Clean and modern hotel in nice rural location in Iceland. The decor and bathroom was very nice and modern. Staff were friendly only downside ....bit pricey since they don't have much local competition. Breakfast was very nice but again not included and pricey. Overall I'd recommend the hotel if you don't mind spending a bit more. We spent 200 US$ for one nite and breakfast...

"Great location near the water"
We went there unaware that Fortitude had been filmed there. After having a great stay there we watched the series and it was a strange experience to see the guest house popping up every few minutes. It was easy to see why they selected such a beautiful location.

"Beautiful, quaint, and comfortable"
We loved this place and it was comfortable and in a great area (the views were spectacular). The only criticism we had was that there were no amenities (guest kitchen) as the guesthouse doubled as a restaurant. The restaraunt prices were extreme in comparison to the lodging prices, which is understandable but made it hard for budget travelers.

"Off-Season Peace and Quiet"
First, a minor warning that the road to the hotel is quite steep in spots and it was a slightly uncomfortable drive at night (I'm an experienced, confident driver, but with no lights at night the turns on the gravel roads were un-nerving). But it was completely worth it! I had the place to myself expect for a couple on the lower floor (I was there in late-September), so everything was quiet. The setting is wonderful, the small, picturesque village with its tidy church, sod house, cafe, and modest houses. The breakfast was standard breads, cheeses, sliced eggs, etc. in generous quantities and good quality. Coffee was most welcome! In the evening I watched a faint trail of the Northern Lights with a cup of tea on the deck while the waves rocked the pebble beach. Later, I was hugely pleased that I happened to lookout of my window and see huge streaks of the green lights dancing from one horizon to the other. Watching them while standing outside of the hotel in the chilly night was one of the best experiences of my life. Well worth the drive and the cost! I would love to go back during the proper season for bird-watching. (And the drive out wasn't bad at all in daylight.)

"OK hotel"
Overall our experience was OK at the hotel. The rooms were nice and clean. The odd thing is that the toilets are for like 2 meter tall people. You feel like a kid sitting in the toilet with your feet almost hanging in the air. The hotel does not offer free buffet breakfast and when paying I believe it was 1700 ISK each for the breakfast we were expecting more. It did not include scrambled eggs or sausages which you get in most free buffet breakfast so we were basically paying to make ourselves a sandwich or eat cereal. Staff was courteous and helpful. Our room had a nice view to the sea so waking up in the morning was quite an experience.

East Iceland is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in East Iceland, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your East Iceland hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
