I heard about this hotel from a former Duke student who said even if I didn't stay here I should at least have a drink at the rooftop bar.
I had prompt, friendly and very professional check in service and a bonus upgrade. Cool!!
The room was ultra modern with low sleek furniture and minimal appointments. It was comfortable and clean with a turn down service that left lovely little chocolates on the pillows.
Unfortunately the open air section of the rooftop bar was reserved for a private party. Since that was the whole reason I was there I was very disappointed. It looked like an excellent place to relax and enjoy the night air and the city views.
If I was to venture that way again I would definitely check the status of the rooftop before making reservations.
The hotel included a continental breakfast of pastries, coffee and tea and also had an onsite dinner restaurant with a small but inventive menu using local ingredients.

The hotel was very clean and the staff were very accommodating. The rooms were very adequate and taken care of nicely. The outdoor pool was also nicely maintained. The UNC spirit was evident everywhere! There were several restaurants, grocery stores, and various shops across the street. The free shuttle service to UNC was nice; however, you had to wait a significant time to be picked from campus to go back to the hotel because they did not have a set time of the hour for each stop but instead would show up anywhere between the top of the hour and 50 minutes after. Overall, still a nice complimentary service.

The hotel is beautiful without being posh, extremely comfy, friendly staff, lots of parking and easy access. This was the last night of our road trip through NC and we wanted to pamper ourselves. Jackpot! This was exactly what we had hoped for. The room was spacious, elegant and clean, with comfy beds. It felt as though someone made a point of implementing ideas they had come up with throughout years of travel in order to maximize the guests' comfort. The shower is larger than most hotel showers and has proper sized shampoo, conditioner and soap (so you don't have to wrestle the standard small hotel bottles), the fridge is also larger than most, and our room had plenty of seating and storage space. A surprising and very fun feature was the 'guest pantry', offering complimentary soft drinks, popcorn, coffee and ice cream, and a washer and dryer (including soap etc.) 24/7.
