"Convienent and charming"
Gorgeous lobby a few steps away from the BART. Our room was probably the most quiet hotel room I've ever visited. I liked that there were many European visitors. The area was a bit dicey with homeless people and open drug use

"Pretty nice for an old hotel in a big city!"
Larger room than normal for downtown SF rooms - normal sized room like Hampton Inns, etc, have. Only dislike was double set of steep stairs to get to rear tower. The Daily Grill restaurant inside hotel was convenient with nice décor and good food. Overall, a pretty good experience for an older hotel in the downtown area of a big city. Hotel was fine, I just didn't care to spend a lot of time in that particular area.

"Great location, slightly overpriced "
We had a great time staying at the Clift Hotel in San Fran. Only annoying part was the additional facility charge of $25 per day to use 10mb internet, the gym and a '$10 breakfast voucher' - these costs should be covered by the already expensive per night rate.

"Great location"
Location is great. Rooms are ok. There is a daily 20$ fee that was added on by the hotel for coffee in the room and other things we were not aware about because we were not told about it until check out. So please note this and drink the coffee in the room and orange juice at the bar, you're paying for it.

"Great Location, Large Comfortable Room"
The hotel is located in a great location near Union Square. It is near a bus line and within walking distance from the square. The room was large, clean and very comfortable in an old, charming, remodeled hotel. The parking garage was very handy. Also, the continental breakfast was good and well-stocked. Would definitely stay here again.

"Good stay but security deposit was not returned"
It was a fairly good stay. The hotel lobby was under renovation but the staff where all attentive. My only problem is that my security deposit of USD 100.00 which they charged to my credit card was not credited back to me until now and it's a little over a month since I checked-out. I sent a message to their FB page but no response. I tried calling their number twice but I couldn't get hold of anybody. So if anybody can assist me in getting back my USD 100 then it would be great.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Downtown San Francisco hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
