We visited Bariloche in the off-season and the weather was mostly overcast and rain. The Charming Hotel and its staff provided the sun we needed. Our lakefront room had spectacular views, provided the amenities of a 5-star hotel (but much more charm than grandeur) and the staff was superb, very knowledgeable of the area and eager to make suggestions of activities to accommodate the rainy weather. We had made minimal plans in advance, and the staff easily assisted us with a rental car, maps, reservations for a soccer game later in the week in BA, etc. The restaurant on property, The Stag, was also 5-star in terms of the cuisine, where we ate elaborate breakfast daily and enjoyed two gourmet dinners. This was especially appreciated, as most the better restaurants were closed in the off-season. Our room had a spa tub, shower and dry sauna, along with a million dollar view. Just lovely!

Everything was good. I have nothing but good things to say. (except)
#1. Room 228: When weather is comfortable, temperature reached almost 80F, could not open the window for fresh air and there is no room fan either. Since window mesh (net) is old and broken in places, the bugs started crawling in thru them moment window was opened.
#2. Room 706: Since all Aerolineas Argentina flights were cancelled on Feb 25, 2017 Saturday afternoon from El Calafate airport (FTE), I have to go back to Alto Calafate, the staffs were nice enough to accommodate me for the night. Now I find a nice fat juicy Spider in the bathroom. No problem with the window mesh.
In both cases I did not bother to complain to the staffs, it seemed so snotty!! Thank you

The staff was absolutely phenomenal. From the moment we checked in until checkout they were super accommodating! They even exchanged my USD into Pesos for me. They made fantastic recommendations for excursions and outings. They have the best view of the lake, and you can easily walk on the trail. We walked into town one night. Get up and watch the sunrise. It was the most beautiful sunrise I had ever seen!
Downside - half of the rooms don't face the water. If you're counting on a room with a view, don't. I had a view of the parking lot next to the main doors. It was pretty loud. And my room had some sort of furnace or heater underneath it and it was incredibly hot. I asked the front desk, and they brought me a portable air conditioning unit which both decreased the temperature of the room, and provided ambient noise so I didn't have to listen to all the comings and goings!

Staff at front desk helpful but could do better. General maintenance in room could be improved . Toilet flush didn't work from Sunday afternoon to Monday . Toilet door handle falling apart, shower handles not sturdy enough ..... All details but details count .

Beautiful views and fabulous service. Staff were exceptionally helpful and it was good to have continuous access to wifi when needed. The bar/restaurant was also a great asset with great breakfast and dinner food, and outstanding service. We would definitely stay here again.
