Really enjoyed our stay. Location is close to downtown, Skytower, the harbor, etc. rooms were spacious, bathrooms large with tub & shower stall. Beds very comfortable. Staff was great, although the hotel can get very busy at times. VIP membership/rooms come with nice additional perks.

I stayed in a basic room with minimal facilities for the kitchen and facilities (gym) need to be updated but for a short stay they were very good. Internet was speedy and staff were always helpful and greeted you whenever you walked by.

Room and bathroom were small but spotlessly clean. A bit further from the city than I expected but still a short walk.
A lot of traffic noise during the day but it was ok at night.
All up excellent value for money.

This hotel is in a good location for it's proximity to the waterfront, which is lovely to walk along. Our room was ok, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. There was a selection of pillows but none of the pillows were very comfortable, all of them seemed a little too overstuffed to be "just right". There was a frosted glass wall between the bedroom and bathroom. Not sure if the intention was to allow natural light to get into the bathroom, it seemed unnecessary.
Breakfast was included at the Portlander restaurant downstairs and was excellent. The buffet breakfast was laid out in small batches and was being refreshed regularly. The selection was very good and eggs including omelettes were prepared upon request.
Valet parking was $30.00 per day which seemed a liitle pricy, the valet was friendly and suggested taking a scenic coastal drive out to Seatoun which was a do not miss.

We chose Regal Geyserland Hotel because of its unique location overlooking Pohutu Geyser. It is fascinating, amazing, and ever-changing against the dark panorama of NZ bush.
We knew where we wanted to stay. However it was very difficult to find the hotel in your publicity. Listed under R made it hidden. I rang 4 places before the right one, advised by Silver Fern eventually. Why is it hard to find?
Secondly, we fail to understand why the hotel's refurbishment has been neglected for years. We found it clean, but shabby.
The receptionist, a blond young lady was excellent. At the breakfast room we asked for a cooked breakfast which came promptly, fresh and very hot. However we had to ask for a table to be cleaned, and we had to ask for cutlery and glasses, as there were none.
What an opportunity for a top class hotel, missed!!

We stayed one night and did not use any of the facilities so can not comment on them. The room was spacious. It had two single beds in the lounge and a double in a separate bedroom. The room was clean but very tired and shabby and could do with a refurbishment. The room was right off the road so was very quiet which was a big plus. The heating in the pool and spa was not working but we were contacted by phone prior to our stay to advise us of this.
