The room was typical Scandinavian décor. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom with a large shower. The hotel sits on the edge of the water and the views were lovely on both sides of the building. Out over the water, and looking at the church on the other side. A short walk up the hill took us to the town square, where Russian women were selling their wares. The next morning, we again took the walk and the police department had a booth set up and were making breakfast. We watched as two groups of small children were led down the street to the booth and served breakfast. They could have been pre-schoolers. Charming place and fun to walk around. At the hotel, the breakfast was truly wonderful. We travel a great deal, and this was by far the best included breakfast we've ever had! Quite a surprise in this remote, top of the world location!

Choice is between two big international hotels, and a few smaller local ones. The place doesn't look the most appealing from the outside, but the chap on reception was very keen to help, and when we were worried the room might be a little cold, soon got it warm for us. Also very helpful with directions and places to go. All in all we enjoyed our stay, felt very welcoming and a personal service that you don't get in the bigger places.

"Hotel Rica shines as bright as the Northern Lights"
I usually do not write reviews but I felt our stay was so exceptional that it was warranted. Traveling from America, we were not sure what to expect, but from the moment we stepped in the door we were met with a perfect blend of professionalism, hospitality and comfort. The staff was sweet and helpful. The design throughout the hotel exuded a modern, clean feel. They even captured the essence of the northern lights in the decor.
The restaurant was superb! Clean, with nice ambience. The food was delicious for dinner, and the complimentary breakfast had all the makings of a Las Vegas buffet, without the crowds!
The bar was also a great bonus- it had the feel of a small night club but with local character- perfect after a day out with the Huskies. The bartender was fantastic- friendly, and full of good advice for our travels.
Who would have thought being all the way on the other side of the world could feel so at home. Would whole-heartedly recommend Hotel Rica to travelers of any nature. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
