We selected this hotel as our night stop on our drive to Florida. The staff was extremely friendly and nice and rooms were nice and comfortable. We had a good and restful stay and nice breakfast next day morning.

We checked in and found the pet policy/fees to not match what we read on Expedia. The television did not work (later learned it was the wall switch needed "On") and the tissue was empty in the bathroom. Both taken care of. We arrived 5-ish (PM), and seems like they might have been short handed, as the desk clerk had to scurry to see if the room was clean. There was a big burn mark in the bedspread, and the drapes are in poor condition, limp and wrinkled. They get by charging high rates due to the lack of motels/hotels in the area, but it was pricey for what they have.

Was in town for a funeral and didn't want to travel too far away from family so chose this place and I have to say it was a pretty nice place considering its age. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and the room was very clean. The rooms could use some updating but they were just right for an overnight stay. I will definitely stay here again when in the area.

I stayed here for two nights over the Thanksgiving Break, and was looking for a good place to stay that was close to Red River Gorge / Natural Bridge State Park. Pros and cons listed in more detail below.
Most of my problems could have been avoided if I ignored Expedia's message about not needing to contact the lodge prior to arrival. If I had, I would have known 1) that navigation software leads people astray, and 2) about the security gate. What WASN'T my fault was that no one answered their after-hours number when I called for directions. I was eventually able to find the lodge because another guest gave me the gate code, and I happened to follow the right roads.
Once I did find the lodge, everything went smoothly. A friendly staff member checked me in, showed me around, and I was able to get to the room. The lodge was beautiful, the room/bathroom was very clean (except 1 hair on the bed), and the following morning I was able to see just how great the property was. The complementary breakfast was fine and it was nice to be able to use the fridge.
Had someone answered their after-hours phone (that's just not acceptable), and had the roads been better marked (easily fixable), I would have given a 4/5; if you're looking for something secluded and "off the beaten path," this is it. However, because a review should reflect MY experience and because a hotel is only as good as its weakest attribute, I will give Cliffview Resort (Lodge) a 3.5/5.

2nd time here and better than I remembered. Travel on business and only want comfort, quiet and clean. While it's not the newest in Hazard it fits the bill for me. Friendly staff, covered entry to unload all business gear out of the rain and was not rushed to do so. Room was extremely comfortable and super clean. Plenty of hot eawater, cold fridge and nice work area for computer and printer. Will definitely stay here in future when I need to overnight in this area.
