"Nice hostel. Clean and easy access to Kawaguchiko "
I was here last Tuesday. Stayed for two nights. This place located 3 minutes walk to a halal Indian restaurant. Although I didn't go, I recommend here because although it is cheap, the facilities are top class. Big kitchen. clean toilet & the room I got was great. It was cold, but the room heater function greatly. Bike rental around Kawaguchiko is also recommended. It caused 1000yen for a day but 150yen per hour. It's affordable in my opinion. I know that being in Kawaguchiko doesn't mean I can see a clearer view of the Mount Fuji, that's why I decided to stay there two nights. Although I didn't get to see Mount Fuji, I'm grateful that I could experience thick snow there.
This area is colder than Tokyo/Kansai. So if you come here around Autumn, Winter, early spring, be prepared for extreme changing weather. I have no bad impression on this hostel. It was one of the best stays I had so far.

For Nozawa Onsen this would have been a pretty high end hotel, but it would be a 2 star hotel in most other places. The room was clean, comfortable and modern. We were on the ground floor so not too much natural light. The bathroom was tiny and reminded me of a camping caravan bathroom, all plastic. The staff were very helpful and friendly. This is a nice hotel but not sure it was worth $300 a night, perhaps $150 would be more realistic.
