One and Only is a hotel that I can recommend if you want to have an excellent stay in Cape Town. It is close to the main V & A Waterfront area but away from all the noise. All you hear and see are the seagulls flying around the waterway in front of the hotel. Plus you get a gorgeous view of the Table Mountain. The staff if very friendly and very capable. They helped us arrange our tour outings and restaurant reservations. The Nobu restaurant on the premises was excellent and reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet is amazing and has something for everyone.

Second stay at the Taj. Went out for the Cape Argus 2017, the bike race that never happened. The hotel is very close to the start of the race and so is superbly positioned. The staff are fantastic and couldn't have been more friendly. The rooms, even the most basic are huge and well appointed. The restaurants are good. Breakfast is excellent, one of the best we have had. The Bombay Brasserie restaurant is very good though pricy by Cape Town standards, and a lot of money for a curry! Will be back next year!

"Good hotel but avoid a room with connecting door"
My Fiancée and I enjoyed our trip. The pool area and grounds are lovey. We particularly enjoyed long breakfasts sitting outside in the sun and shade. The little sparrows are most entertaining. The restaurants are huge and have very little character - very bright lights and very high ceilings the food is good but not cheap. The room service is great however and a romantic meal on the balcony is much better!
We changed rooms 3 times as the connecting doors are not effective at blocking sound between rooms - even normal chatting is quite easy to hear without trying. We loved the last room - very quiet and lovely. The gym is great, spa is good enough and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The taxi drivers will rip you off - from a cheaper hotel 3 hotels down the taxi drivers will open negotiations to go anywhere about 50% lower than here - it's naughty!
Overall, had a good time - but get a room with no connecting door.

"Great Hotel but Reception personnel inefficient."
Good experience apart from dealings with Reception and room condition.
Room first. There were no bath towels and one floor lamp had no bulb ('elf and safety issue in the UK).
Reception. They did not do what they said they were going to do.
Re. the towels, I telephoned twice and visited Reception once to get towels and they eventually arrived 2hours 20 mins. later. Meantime, my wife dried herself on the towelling robe!
I asked Reception if we could extend our departure time. They said they would speak with the Duty Manager and phone me. This didn't happen so later on our departure day I went to Reception, saw the Duty Manager myself and agreed a time with him.
