What a surprise to find such a nice hotel in a little town like Dixon! Only five miles from U.C. Davis and almost half the price of the worn-out places I checked in Davis. Stayed here four nights, and I'll be back for four more this week. Big, clean room with a sofa and chair as well as the bed, a refrigerator and great breakfast downstairs each morning.

When I checked in, I received the card key incorrectly and asked a woman to change it to another card. The person in charge did not say sorry and was not kind. And I asked her to change some dollars to coins to do laundry, she made the change very reluctantly.

Room was ok. I stayed two nights to visit my son at UCD. On entering the room, I noticed a slight odor in the worn green carpet. There were chips in the bathtub and the shower pressure was low. Also, the cleaning staff did not replenish the coffee packs or the sink soap the second day. Finally, the lobby door was locked after 10 pm, and the side door closest to my room did not work. It was a bit of a hassle to find the side door that would accept my keycard so I could get back to my room.
On the positive side, it was easy to get to UCD and the hotel was pretty quiet. The bed was also comfortable.
Note: I never ate breakfast there, so I have no idea if it was good.

In Solano County, Dixon is between San Francisco and Sacramento. Its claim to fame came in 2007, when it made the Guinness Book of World Records by hosting the World’s Largest Corn Maze, complete with a phone line in case visitors got lost. Davis, 15 miles east of Sacramento, is known for its University of California campus. The city is also known for its farmers markets and for being very bicycle-friendly.
