"close to Central station that takes you everywhere"
Loved everything about this place, from the front desk to my room. the elevators (lifts) move a little slow so what .. great location, great price, clean quiet, and two blocks to Central Station that takes you anywhere you want to go

Excellent place for a stop over or for the business traveller needing to be close to Sydney CBD. The rooms are basic though nicely appointed. Clearly the room's emphasis is on being somewhere to sleep rather than to relax during the day. Quite bizarrely the TV is mounted on the same wall as the headboard making relaxed viewing from bed virtually impossible. A modern and sparkling clean bathroom was certainly a plus. Set across the road from Central Station there is some background train noise but double glazing seems to mostly work. Staff were very helpful without being overbearing. I work very close by and will be recommending the Royal Exhibition to anyone looking for local accommodation.

Walk 100m southwest on randle st to reach back entrance to central station, metro groceries on Elizabeth street, walking distance to market city where you can buy souvenirs (lowest price I found: $6 boumerang elsewhere $12). Room has tv with remote and about 20 English channels, ketler provided but smelt awful, tea bags and coffe provided, 2 glases and some plates, small fridge, old computer on small desk (did not use), sugar provided, comfy bed and pillows, NO HEATHER and was 10 Celcius outside with poor room insulation. Room was quiet and staff was very kind. Will stay again.

Another warm welcome for our return visit - nice that we were remembered and given a room upgrade! Delightful room with openable windows onto the yard and water fountain - very refreshing on a hot Sydney afternoon. Room had unique colour and character - more like staying in a friend's house than a hotel room. Spotlessly clean, fabulously comfortable bed - only slight gripe was that the lead to the iron wasn't long enough to make use of the good light, so I was ironing in the dark! Complimentary pastries on check-out and copies of Vogue to read - what's not to love? Parking available up the street at Star Car Wash, where they cleaned the car over night. Can't wait to come back!

Upon arrival at the hotel, my sister and I, in our late 40's were prepared that our Mystery Hotel purchase was not a 5*. It is a very small hotel but the rooms appear spacious. We were upgraded to the rooftop newly renovated suite which was very much appreciated. Awesome city views! The room was very clean and we were very pleased by the Japanese decor (no we are not Asian). The receptionist and staff were absolutely wonderful and very accommodating to our needs, providing us with extra blankets, electrical adaptor, personal hairdryer, and additional towels when requested during our 4 night stay. Note that the rooms are not cleaned daily and we were fine with that. The terrace patio space is open to the other guests and it was disorderly. Room darkening curtains on the door to prevent guests on the terrace from possibly seeing us would be a great suggestion to management as an easy fix. The majority of guests seemed to be the younger backpacking generation but it was very quiet in our room the entire stay. The location is perfect for the price point in a vibrant area surrounded by many cafes, restaurants and easy walking distance to the city center and harbours. The hotel was in the process of being painted, unfortunately by inexperienced painters and now the carpeted stairs will probalby need to be replaced if not already the current plan.

Sandwiched between Kings Cross and its more chic neighbour, Paddington, the suburb of Darlinghurst is a vibrant, open-24-hours mix of terrace houses, hip bars, nightclubs, and a multitude of restaurants with menus ranging from top value to top dollar. Head for Stanley Street’s inner city version of Little Italy for pasta.
