I love the location and the ocean view rooms have great views. you can open your eyes anytime of day and night and see the ocean. food is reasonable in the restaurant and employees accommodating. short walk to town either along the beach or the road. there is no elevator so if you have a struggle with walking this is not the place unless you can get ground floor. hotel is five stories. kerry

Wi_fi not good also it would nice if the hotel had coffee maker's in their rooms..just adds more comfort for their guest.Service is a little slow, but have experienced that at a lot of places in Mexico..it's not Cuba by a long shot! The beach is beautiful!!

"Perfect Mexican Hotel."
I loved this small hotel. It is in need of some pool repair and some new paint. However, the staff works hard to maintain the hotel. It is located in a perfect spot, close to many restaurants and the beach. It is not a Barcelo, so don't expect that. Rooms are clean and it was very safe, as they have a full time guard. I would return!

"Classy, quiet and beautiful hotel on the beach"
We were very pleasantly surprised at all of the attributes of this hotel. It was classy, quiet, friendly, right on the beach, with a good (but pricy) restaurant. The hotel is within nice walking distance of downtown Zihaut and very near a series of excellent restaurants. As it 'cascades' down the steep hill above Playa La Madera, the stairs would be daunting to anyone with mobility issues, but for us that was just necessary exercise.

"It is a nice hotel close to the beach."
My wife and I had a reservation for three nights but we liked the hotel so much that we extended our stay four more nights. The hotel is well located near Madera beach and about a twenty minute walk to downtown Zihua. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

"Te amo Bungalows la Madera!"
We spent 5 nights in Zihua and stayed in one of the Bungalows la Madera suites. The room was spacious and comfortable, but it was the ocean view from the balcony that made our stay spectacular. We loved spending time in the late afternoon cooling off in the infinity jacuzzi, watching families play in the surf and listening to the waves, especially after long and hot days exploring the beaches of Zihua and Ixtapa. It was also nice to be within such a sort walking distance (just a single flight of stairs) to Playa la Madera and within walking distance Zihua Centro. The staff was always around, but gave us plenty of privacy and were there to help when we needed it. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Zihua and we are already talking about our next stay at Bungalows la Madera! We absolutely loved it! As much as we loved Bungalows la Madera, it may not be for everyone. The plubming in Zihua is not the best (toilet paper can't be flushed, showers drain a bit slow, etc.). So, if you are super finicky and expect ultra luxurious and plush accomodations and ammenities, you may be happier with a hotel in Ixtapa. Also, there is a steep hill to walk up to get to the hotel, so it would not be ideal for someone with difficulties walking.

"Nice hotel close to everything the staff is friend"
The hotel needs to have a second set of keys for guests. I didn't like how you had to have a credit card to put in the slot for electricity then when you leave to lock up you have to take it out to get out of the hotel so now you're air conditioning goes off when you come back the place is so hot.

"Bright, clean, practical very close to beach"
Our room was a nice size, bright and cheerfully furnished. Very clean. The staff were very accommodating. Nice big terrace. We were the first level up from the beach level. Less hot walks upstairs but the view was a bit obscured by palapas. The kitchen is serviceable. It would have been nice to have a few basics such as salt or coffee filters. As we were only there a few days we didn't want to invest in many staples and didn't use the kitchen a whole lot. Blender, toaster, coffee maker....all the basic equipment. Everything is a bit old and dated but who cares. Bathroom and shower were small but fine. Lots of hot water if you feel the need. I would suggest that they leave a broom in your suite so you can sweep the sand as you track it in. Alternatively a sturdy mat at the front door to wipe your feet on. I tried to not track it in but its hard not to even after rinsing off at the foot shower area.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
