"Comfortable, Affordable Hotel Close to Great Wine "
The Cloverdale Super 8 is a clean, comfortable hotel with a helpful staff. It's location is great--only 15 minutes from Healdsburg and some of the best wineries anywhere! Another convenient aspect is that it's in a strip mall with a grocery store, CVS, and decent pizza place, which would be good with kids.

Having not stayed at the Timber Cove Lodge or stopping there for over 30 years, I was impressed. I was a graduate student at Bodega Marine Lab, in the 1970s so I was by the site and stopped a lot. The remodel left all the important and elegant element in place. Remodeling only enhanced the experience of staying there, by upgrading the experience with modern but complementary additions. Having the gas fireplaces and dual pane windows in the rooms enhanced the experience by not requiring one to walk out in the weather to get more firewood to overcome the drafts. The views, interior and exterior, as always were exquisite, and the main lobby with fireplace is a master piece that has been retained. While I, to certain nostalgic degree, miss the wood fire, I really like the lack of smoke odor and the need for someone to occasionally add wood to the fire. The staff was excellent, and the kitchen was great. Due to the small size of the Lodge, in terms of guests, I appreciated the fact that they requested reservations for dinner times, so you didn't just sit there, so the attention was very personal. The food was excellent and my compliments to the staff.

"Cozy Hotel next to beach bluffs with great service"
Host made fire in pits early in morning. Don't forget your binoculars. Eagle just sitting on beach. Otters cavorting in estuary. You can't walk down to beach from this area in Gualala. But you can certainly enjoy ocean sounds and sights from fire pit and walk. And, you have to wait til 8:30 for breakfast, but boy is it worth it. Best breakfast I've had at a motel in a long time. Home made goodies, scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles. Good coffee. (For early birds, walk over to the full size market next door, grab yourself a latte, sit round the fire until breakfast is ready). Are rooms a little dated? yes, but comfy and clean.
I'd definitely stay there again.

Cloverdale lies within easy reach of world-famous wineries in Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino counties. But local attractions tempt visitors as well, including quaint bed and breakfasts, a museum, and a small airport popular with skydivers. Canoeists and kayakers access the Russian River at Cloverdale River Park. To the southwest, hikers enjoy redwood groves at Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve.
