Hotel Colon Barcelona

Avenida Catedral, 7, Barcelona - Map
"Nice hotel in the centre of the gothic quarter"
This Hotel was lovely. We left the bustle of the Christmas market in the square outside and found the hotel to be a nice peaceful place. The staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English, which was a relief as we don't speak Spanish at all. The room was a nice size with two comfy chairs, a kingsize bed, safe and minibar. It even had one of those coffee machines that use the new coffee "pods". Very nice :-) The decor was in keeping with the area of Barcelona, traditional, but was fresh and well done. The bathroom was modern and although smallish, still plenty of room for our needs, had a bath, shower, double sink, toilet and bidet.

"Nice hotel close to everything"
The hotel is clean, nice decor, friendly staff. The only shortfall is the TV programs. Besides CNN and BBC, are all in Spanish without the option to change the language in audio or subtitle. If you think this is no biggy to you then you may consider the walking distance from Placa Catalunya square. This hotel is located almost at the end of La Rambla Street.

"Excellent hotel in great central location"
With a door opening onto Las Ramblas this has a great location. Rooftop pool is heated with views over city. Spar facilities and comfy lounges. We were upgraded for free and had a complimentary bottle of cava in the room on our 2nd day. Turn down service with chocolates was a nice touch. Free cups of tea late afternoon. Staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't use the restaurant as the menu didn't suit (needed a veggie option) and was rather pricey but so many restaurant just outside the front doors it's didn't matter. Thank you.

"Great little hotel in excellent location"
Everything about this hotel was satisfactory. Only downside was the satellite TV which kept dropping out and then coming back on. This may have been due to weather. A corkscrew in the room would be a good addition.

"Good hotel convenient to Metro and city centre"
Group of two 70 year old couples staying for four nights. Very convenient hotel with very helpful staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable and had advantage of being able to open windows. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms good. One of us had a bath and shower, the other a large wet room. It would have been nice to have two chairs in the rooms - if watching TV, some people find sitting on bed uncomfortable. Disadvantage of street side rooms was noise, particularly if window open for fresh air - Barcelona never sleeps!! Advantage was impressive sunrise colours. Breakfasts were excellent. Choice of cereals/cold meat/cheese/fruit/scrambled egg/sausage/bacon. Restaurant/brewery within 100 yards - good Tapas and atmospheric if noisy. Other restaurants within 5 minute walk, and the The Rambles about 10 minutes walk with many restaurants. Would stay again.

"Great location, neat hotel"
Nice, neat and conveniently located, right in the heart of La Rambla, just in front of Liceu metro station. Room was a bit small though, but housekeeping was on time, neat, receptionist was very helpful, and because the location was so central, we could get to any of the interesting places either by metro, bus or even by walking. Highly recommended.

Ciutat Vella is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Ciutat Vella, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Ciutat Vella hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
