"Good location, close to shopping and restaurants."
The hotel is well maintained. The staff is friendly. I do not recommend the restaurant. The service is very slow and it is under staffed. Would not eat there again and would not recommend it to any guest.

The bed was not very comfortable. The carpet was nasty. I put some of the towels down next to the bed and kept my shoes there so I could slip them on before I went walking around. It is convenient to most places but on a highway and there was a lot of traffic noise.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Franklin this past weekend. We drove down to see our first Tar Heel Basketball game and found the hotels location perfect. It was an easy walk through campus down to the Smith Center and also surrounded by great food and things to do at night on Franklin Street. The hotel was super nice from the lobby and Atrium to our room. The beds and pillows were heaven. The bathrooms were great with the glass shower. Only negative was the shower leaked out of the glass door and seemed to have cause a bit of a mold smell from previous guests. Overall our time at the Franklin was great and we will definitely be staying here again if we ever make it back down to beautiful Chapel Hill.

My experience began with taking 20 minutes to check in while the gentleman was on the phone. I was traveling for a business trip, with multiple rooms reserved under my name. Two of my coworkers had a late check in which the hotel considered a no show and cancelled the rooms without notification. When I originally reserved the hotel room I prepaid so my coworkers would not have to deal with a hassle, come to find out upon my check in, they charged me again, full price!

The hotel was very clean and well kept with nice room amenities - range, microwave, full refrigerator plus stocked with dishes. The daily breakfast was delicious with a very nice variety of cold and hot food. Our two medium-large dogs were extremely comfortable even though there were no first-floor rooms left by the time we arrived on Christmas. With both elevator and stair options on the second floor the dogs had no problems and I felt the pet fee was very reasonable considering they do not have breed or weight restrictions. My only complaint is that the hotel restaurant/bar (and room service) are only available Monday - Friday and most leisure stays include weekends!

Chapel Hill is home to the University of North Carolina, the oldest state-supported university in the U.S. It is part of the state’s Research Triangle. Chapel Hill is known for its liberal, college-town ways. Nearby Carrboro has a vibrant music scene, with Cat’s Cradle being one of the top clubs in the country for live music.
