"Centrally located, walking distance to everything."
We spent 11 nights at the Axsur Design Hotel, Calle de Misiones 1260, Montevideo 11000, Uruguay, this spotlessly clean hotel is in the Ciudad Vieja (Old City). The complimentary breakfast buffet was delicious with eggs to order & piping hot coffee. It was quiet, centrally located & everything was within walking distance. All the buses can be boarded on the next block, Calle de Buenos Aires, taking you to every corner of this beautiful Mural/Grafitti filled city, they are frequent & inexpensive. It is one block from the 13.7 miles Rambla, that has the most spectacular sunsets.
The town of 25 de Agosto, Florida, Uruguay is "An Artist's Paradise", where homes, shops, restaurants & buildings have the most inspiring Murals of about 100 different topics, everyday life of the people & of this country. There is a store selling guidebooks, " Guia de los Murales" by Leo Arti, the French Artist, who painted most of the Murals. Walking around, viewing & photographing each Mural from different angles, in this quaint town with numerous flower gardens was quite a joy. The map at the back of the book made this trip very fruitful. Sharing her artistic talents to this town & to everyone who visit, will leave with an abundant perspective of her talents, which will spread internationally for generations to come.
