Cascais is a beautiful place and made even more so by the wonderful treatment we received at the Grande Real Villa Italia. The Villa Italia is top notch, but was made even better by the attention to detail and welcoming spirit of the staff. I can't say enough about Claudia, Bernardo and Alex who made us laugh and feel like we were home. The food was excellent an sitting on the patio at night having a few drinks watching the sunset was a piece of heaven. Thank you all, we hope to see you again soon.

The hotel is 50 metres from the beach, and in the centre of Cascais. Shops, restaurants and bars are all within a stones throw. We stayed at the Baia on a Bed and Breakfast basis and it proved to be the wisest choice as the main square near the hotel provided a large selection of restaurants and bars. In fact we were spoilt for choice, as they offered a variety of cuisine, from steaks to fish, and national dishes of several countries.
The only down side was the hotel does not provide tea / coffee making facilities in the room nor a fridge to keep water or soft drinks cool.

Vila Gale Cascais is a very fine facility with clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff and an excellent ocean view. We spent two weeks at the hotel and really enjoyed our stay. It is walking distance to town, restaurants, shopping, beaches and attractions. The train to Lisbon is an easy connection.

The hotel is well-located and well-designed so that guests can take full advantage of the natural beauty of Cascais. Staff were very sweet and attentive, we had no complaints about the room, and the hotel restaurants and amenities were expectedly pricey but enjoyable. The sort of place I imagine people want to take a honeymoon, a relaxing beach weekend, or a luxurious getaway. We had a lovely two days!

The Pestana Cidadela in Cascais is a well located hotel which is handy for the beach and restaurants. The room we had was spacious and had a nice balcony and lovely sea view. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately the bar is part of the restaurant area and when large functions or big groups of people are catered for it can make bar service rather slow. The area does offer outside seating with a lovely view.
We enjoyed breakfast sitting outside and there was generally a very good range of buffet style food available. We did not realise until the last day or our 5 night stay that you could order cooked food as well which was rather annoying.
It was also disappointing that during our stay we only got free bottled water on 3 of the 5 days meaning that we had to purchase water from the mini bar for 3 Euros.
In summary is was a well located hotel with lovely views and helpful staff which could be so much better with a few small changes.

Set around three small sandy bays, including a traditional fishing harbour, the former fishing village of Cascais is now a busy yet relaxed modern resort. The nearby surfing beach of Guincho, with its soft golden dunes, is five kilometres away and Carcavelos beach is 10 kilometres away. Estoril (famous for its casino) is just three kilometres and Lisbon is 29 kilometres away. Several championship golf courses are close by.
