We went during the new year for a week along with 5 families with kids. Had a good time and would certainly recommend. Hotel staff were mostly pleasant and helpful especially Roberto at the front desk.
There could be unpredictable rains in winter months but weather still fine on most days.
Location almost 60 km from Faro so hotel transfer could be expensive.
We were 5 families with kids who thoroughly enjoyed TT, Tennis etc
Good bar open till midnight
Dinner was different each day and excellent, finishes pretty early at 21.30; breakfast was quite good as well.
breakfast and dinner were excellent; even champagne was thrown in on new years' night!
plenty of eating joints in town centre of varied taste but maybe closed for siesta in the afternoon!
20 min walk to town centre is pleasant since it is downhill but taxis are available in plenty if needed
Sauna & Turkish bath free but indoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi not in working order that we never knew until we reached there; outdoor swimming pool too cold to swim even during day time in winter
overall good experience and would recommend
Sea and swimming pool view rooms

This family-friendly Carvoeiro hotel is located on the waterfront, within a 15-minute walk of Vale Covo Beach and Vale de …More
Friendly staff always ready with a smile and an offer of help, lovely clean spacious apartment with maid service daily which was an unexpected bonus out of season. Facilities all open eg indoor pool, sauna, tennis courts etc, despite the place being quiet over the late Dec period. Only downside is if you don't have a car - we were fine but if relying on hotel or bus you may find it a bit isolated without wheels. But perfect for us and very much enjoyed our stay, plus it's only 5-6 euros for a taxi to town if you drive but fancy a drink

This family-friendly Carvoeiro resort is located near the beach, within 2 mi (3 km) of Paraiso Beach, Carvoeiro Beach, and …More
Its location may be hard to find if you drive there yourself, but it was easy once you followed the signs from anywhere around it. It gives the impression that it is isolated, yet we could go anywhere along the Algarve quickly or slowly depending on the route and method taken. You can walk to the nearest beaches but why bother. The Hotel provides a bus service to drop off and collect to most of the local beaches. Last resort, use a taxi service.
The main thing is that the hotel was a delight to stay at. For us the location was perfect, apart from the odd barking dog in the neighbourhood (just like anywhere in the world). The staff provided excellent service and always happy to provide information on the hotel and area.
The outside facilities, especially the pool area, are very good. Having breakfast almost pool side in the sun, is just such a great way to start the day. Take your time as we did, no rush and no hurry, just the way it should be. Everything at the pace you want.
The Serenata Restaurant at the hotel has a good ambiance, a varied food and wine menu, excellent service and overall it was great value for money. But do try other local restaurants and experiment. We did and the Serenata compared very favourably with them all.
From the moment we arrived there we were made welcome and it was like that for the ten days we were there. All in all we had a great stay and look forward to going again next year.
A big thank you to our friends who recommended it.

Stayed for 1 week mid September 2014- ages 66, 35, 33 and 1 year old. Firstly the apartments- huge! You can tell they are built to be residential originally as they are really spacious with a fully equiped kitchen, utility room, living area and 3 bedrooms. Great pool area with baby pool and full size pool. Plenty of sun beds, never a problem getting one. However no bar, restaurant on site so you have to bring your own down from the room if you want drinks. Assume this is due to it being in a residential area. Spotless clean, really modern, aircon not the greatest but we didn't complain as it wasn't really needed whilst we were there. Towels/ sheets changed once a week and apartment cleaned.
Location- 15 minute walk into town- brings you out right on Main Street where shops, bars and restaurants are. Not a flat walk however and so if you're not great on the mobility front, best get a taxi (<€5). We always walked into town and got cab back. In a residential area so no shops etc around the complex. Nearest shop 10 minute walk. Restaurant next door to the shop which is definatly worth a visit.
Overall I'd definatly stay again but you need to be willing to walk or drive / taxi into town.

Hotel over looking the busy square, traffic during the day and the local bus train which you must go on only 3 euros. At night music until 11pm you get a ring side seat from the balconey.Just a few steps from a fab choice of bars and eateries.I loved the noise, the veiws and the traffic jams. Hotel clean but alittle dated, beds very soft and pillows very thin and small, pool small but deep with a few sunbeds.

Rain for most of early part of the week excluded use of the pool but it looked good, only marred by leaves and debris from nearby trees. Groundsman/pool guy worked every day regardless of weather keeping all areas neat and tidy. Pool pump not used for most of week (? fault) so build up of debris made the pool uninviting. However.... Mozzies! Probably due to surrounding trees, grass and field with goats and chickens next door. Several nearby supermarkets including Aldi. Purchased a plug-in mozzie killer and no further problems within the apartment. Kitchen reasonably equipped with good size fridge and microwave, however NO OVEN! No pizzas or grill facility! Plenty of hot water at all times of the day. Went to visit several restaurants listed in local guides and recommended by friends, but found most were closed! Maybe out of season (visited early April). Apartment recommended for a fairly quiet stay with spectacular views to the north from well kept mature gardens.

Quiet relaxed resort, well established gardens around the pool side shame about the constant music from the bar area
We didn't eat in the restaurant as there was so many good local cafe's and restaurants. Easy walk down to the beautiful beaches, would definitely return

At the head of a long verdant valley the popular, pretty little resort of Carvoeiro opens onto a small golden cove. Steep cliffs dotted with traditional houses rise to either side while the surrounding area has been heavily developed with low-rise apartments. Fishing boats ferry holidaymakers to less busy picture-perfect coves at Benagil, Carvalho and Marinha. Adjacent, the curious eroded rock formations of Algar Seco are worth exploring.
