A short break of four nights, Canterbury offers lots to do with riverside walks, historic locations, good shops and restaurants. The theatre offers a great range of entertainment and there are lots of local character pubs. A ten mole drive takes you to the sea.

The location was great, staff friendly, common rooms and included breakfast were all good. My only complaint was my room. It was on 2 floors. One bed an TV on ground, and one bed and shower room on the 1st floor. The furnishings were quite old (cording hanging from the chair), and the carpet really should have been swept! We were in an annex, which was quiet, but you have to key in codes to access the building (so don't forget the slip of paper they give you at registration).
With a different room I would probably recommend this hotel - but not the room I had.

Hotel was comfortable but very dated. Rooms were very clean but could do with a sympathetic makeover. Staff appeared to be very polite and professional. Even though there was a wedding party at time of my stay, staff were attentive. Car park was an added bonus. Overall, convenient location and good value for short break.

My friends and I looked for a hotel close to the city centre but in a quiet neighbourhood and we got exactly that. The rooms were even more spacious than expected, the breakfast was good but sometimes arrived with a bit of a delay due to the many guests having breakfast at the same time. The Carvery restaurant is much better than we expected as well, and for a VERY reasonable price. Will definitely book here again if we go back to Canterbury. It's a beautiful hotel with friendly service.

Excellent location for walking down into Canterbury old town and up to the University of Kent. I would definitely stay here again when visiting my daughter at the University of Kent. There is also a very convenient bus stop if I had needed that. Tony was very friendly and offered maps and insights to my visit in Canterbury and about a day trip to Whitstable. He was also generous in letting me leave my suitcase before check in and after check out. The bed (in the Writers Room) was VERY comfortable and the shower had great hot water and pressure.
