Overall, the stay was pleasant and we loved the location. In the city, a street away from the esplanade but far enough away to not be too close to traffic. The room itself was clean and comfortable, however, the shower's were awful - no pressure and the temperature was either scalding or freezing. After a long day of touring, coming back to this was very displeasing. The walls were extremely thin also and any noise from the rooms next door sounded like they were in the room with you. Traffic noises and construction going on across the room from the hotel was also very prominent and made it difficult to sleep sometimes. Complimentary buffet breakfast was nice though lacked variety - minimal complaint here as everything was generally quite nice. The spa was cold which kinda defeated the purpose of the spa experience. If it was heated, this would've been much nicer. I would still recommend this hotel as it is decent enough for people on a budget but I would stress that these points can be somewhat disappointing.

We stayed at the Pacific for two nights in August 2016. The hotel was in a great location downtown and had all the amenities you would want. Location was close to the beach, shops, restaurants, pier, etc. WE especially liked the walking trail along the shore. Overall a great place to stay in Cairns.

Amazing!!!! Food was fantastic, rooms are spacious (especially for being on a boat) and staff was always there to help. I felt like I was on a floating 5-star resort. They definitely go over and beyond to make your experience perfect. Everything from hot breakfast the moment that we boarded our shuttle boat to carrying our suitcases on and off the boat. Everything was smooth and perfect! Thank you so much!

Location was quite good: not too far from the airport, and we were able to walk the Esplanade but not be bothered by the noise. It was on a main street but set back, and tours pick up at the hotel. Also walking distance to the Botanical Gardens. There was a restaurant on the premises.

Ever the teacher, I'll do What Went Well and Even Better If...
What Went Well: The room itself was good. The bed was comfy, there was plenty of space and the facilities were good. The hairdryer was surprisingly powerful! It was clean and had a stunning view. If you can book an ocean front room, definitely do it. We were on the fourth floor looking out over the water, and absolutely loved it. The balcony had plenty of room. The towels were really fluffy as well, which may seem small, but felt luxurious.
The staff were great. Any time we had a question, they were more than happy to help.
I would also recommend their Going Green offer. If you opt to Go Green, you hang a tag on the door and for every day that you do it, you get $10 off- that might be off lunch or dinner, or a treatment, something like that (but not breakfast). It does mean they don't come in at all- not to replenish anything. However, you can ask for more toiletries at the desk at no extra cost, so don't worry about running out. We did it for five days and ended up getting $50 off our meal at the restaurant (nice food, good portion sizes, tough steak).
Even Better If... The rooms could probably do with a bit of an update, but it isn't drastic. The worst thing was the internet. You only get 500mb a day and the connection is seriously temperamental. I could hold it still in the same place and lose connection. Definitely needs better wifi!

Pocket Guide: Cairns and Northern Beaches Cairns Hotels
Cairns is the gateway to Australia's famed Great Barrier Reef, and is a tropical getaway in its own right. Make sure to visit the Cairns Esplanade, the city's social and recreational heart. Walk, rollerblade, or cycle along the promenade. Soak up the sun or take a swim in the large saltwater lagoon. In the evening, dine in one of the many restaurants along the Esplanade.
