The Reef Encounter was the highlight of our Australian trip. The accommodations are comfortable and clean and casual. It's a great trip for anyone who wants to spend a lot of time snorkeling or diving. The staff were friendly and helpful. I was especially grateful for their patience and encouragement during the supervised dives.
I also enjoyed getting to know some of the international guests on board. It did not feel overcrowded or overwhelming like large cruise ships. It is a great experience for active people at any age. It is not suitable for small children.

"Hotel in a great location with a beautiful view."
We had a two bedroom apartment with a wonderful view, wish we had more than one night stay there. Only down part was the second receptionist we encountered, she did not have a great command of the English language and was not very helpful when we were asking for things to do in the area. We figured it out on our own but it would have been nice to have some help!

Pocket Guide: Cairns and Northern Beaches Cairns Hotels
Cairns is the gateway to Australia's famed Great Barrier Reef, and is a tropical getaway in its own right. Make sure to visit the Cairns Esplanade, the city's social and recreational heart. Walk, rollerblade, or cycle along the promenade. Soak up the sun or take a swim in the large saltwater lagoon. In the evening, dine in one of the many restaurants along the Esplanade.
